Promotional Video Competition

Rules of the competition:
1.  Create a video with the purposes of advertising War (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,142.0.html) and getting everyone pumped for the large occasion.
2.  The video must be published on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com).
3.  The maximum length of the video is three minutes, including credits.
4.  All art, music, and pictures must be legal to use, with the exception of content used on Elements (http://www.elementsthegame.com) and the Official Elements Forum (http://www.elementscommunity.com/forum).  This is enforced by Youtube, but if a Competition Organizer sees any content that would otherwise be illegal to use, the submission will not be included in the poll.
5.  While Dragoon1140 and others are willing to answer any questions that may be asked, the video must be done by primarily by the person submitting the video.
6.  The winner of the competition will have their video featured in the primary War thread and will also receive the following award icon:

Kind of seems like a bad idea to advertise an event to newbie players who are unlikely to be picked in auction.  Especially if you're downsizing teams from last round and ditching the rookie slot.

If you wish to discuss War III, you may so in the War Section (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,142.0.html).  This competition will not be a place to discuss War itself, unless it's related to a specific video.

I'm not going to post a video unless there are very few submissions in the final poll.

Just coming from experience alone, it doesn't take more than a few days to make a quality video, especially if the video is a rather short one.  There is still ample time left to do everything that's required.

Brainstorm the idea
What's the video going to be about?  Any idea can be thought of here, and don't worry about complications included.  That's for later.  Go through the list and choose the ideas that have no chance of happening (ie, having an Otyugh nomming a Leaf Dragon yelling "Animal Rights?  More like Nomming Rights!").  Go through the ones you like and choose one that is within your capabilities to produce.

Produce it
One cannot just film willy-nilly, make a script!  This means explaining everything in detail; nothing should be forgotten, since you're likely to film or record at a later time.  Notepad works perfect for this, so don't buy anything.  If no recording of any kind is needed, use this time to search for legal music and pictures.

Film/Record it
If one wants to use their voice, make sure it's clear and precise and every word is pronounced correctly.  Else, and this is from experience, everybody and their mother will correct one's pronunciation.  This is an optional stage if one is making a slideshow of some sort.

Edit it
Any editor works here, but Windows Movie Maker will satisfy almost all needs here.  I use Adobe Final Cut Pro now, but that doesn't mean that flashy stuff can make up for a badly edited video otherwise.  Be sure all edits are simple and everything is readable and in a nice font/color.  Rendering the video as .mpeg4 is probably the best for such a simple video.

Upload it
Create a Youtube account with a username/password you'll remember.  Uploading a video takes a while, so make sure you're watching the progress.  If the video hasn't finished and an error occurs, restart your entire browser and start over.  If the video has finished and an error is shown, look at the video in the "My Videos" tab, since there is a good chance that nothing is actually wrong with it.

If you need video editing freeware:
AVS Video Editor (http://www.avs4you.com/avs-video-editor.aspx) Is a free software that's available for download at the link. I use it for school and other things quite often, so I can assure you it's safe. It's gotten praise in reviews and the like, I'd have to praise it as well, it's wonderful for just about anything. Not to mention it's completely free. The only downfall is, if you use the free version, it places a watermark on the video, you can't do much about this so beware.
