Welp, thanks for the thoughts
But that should go into the
Feedback thread, not the Ideas thread.
Regardless..
Do NOT held just a single competition for a week and next week a new one, and then a new one etc.
Imho, hosting a dozen competitions and keep them ongoing for months is going to have the following advantages:
* Keep the community more interested (there will always be an ongoing competiton).
* Greater variety (if one of the running competitions do not interest a person, the other 2 or 3 currently running competitions will probably catch his/her attention).
* The Competitions section is going to look much more active than it looks right now.
While hosting "a dozen competitions" and "keep them ongoing for months" seems to have these advantages, one of us will have to be monitoring the competition for these months. Since months are quite a long time, our timers will either be pretty long and people might either delay joining or, by joining too early, will forget about the voting, and won't vote. (This is also why we already talk about the voting threads all around, including chat.)
Greater variety does seem legit (Yeah, we're on our third Art Comp), but we're trying to get a good cycle going of having an art comp, a writing comp, a deck comp, a card comp, etc, going through a cycle as to keep people interested.
It'll be more active, but it'll be a bit more of a hassle to maintain. Although that's only if it's a "dozen" comps. I guess we can attempt to run some more simultaneously, but it shouldn't be an absurd number.
