All right then, I threw some random notes together and this is what happened. (may not sound like it but it was a load of work o.O)

http://free-midi-converter.com/downloads/4046ad88-15ea-489f-8bbd-4189fb8913f6-Elder.mp3

And yeah, I have seriously no clue how to get that thing onto youtube. Youtube can't convert midi files and the free midi converter I found just uploads my music somewhere and I get that link.
Ah well, the sound isn't good enough anyway to compete with ... say, are there any submissions, yet? no? (I don't count Glitch, 'cause he eats bugs :( though his music is out of my league ;) )

I found this lovely thing in my pursuit to figure out what a "MIDI" was: http://anvilstudio.com/
+1 for you. I am able to make music now! mwuhuhuhu ^^

For the sake of this competition, I'm going to change the rules a bit.  As long as the song can be played with a click of a button (and no downloads), it can be used as a submission.  Forcing the song into a video on Youtube is a tad more complicated for some than originally intended.  I'll change the OP accordingly.

I looked into ways to make audio file uploading a bit easier. Below is what I found. The service looks to be running pretty smoothly, but before we give it the official "Stamp of Approval", we need to make sure it really works.

A new way to upload audio competition submissions?

What is Kiwi6?
Kiwi6 allows you to upload your mp3-files online for free. You will receive a link to your mp3-file, or you can embed the file directly on a website or a forum.

Why Kiwi6?
The advantage of Kiwi6 over similar services like YouTube is that Kiwi6 does not require registration, and uploading is very fast. It takes less than a minute to upload one song and receive the link. Simple, fast and free.

Tutorial
  • Produce your musical masterpiece and save it as an mp3-file
  • Go to Kiwi6.com (http://kiwi6.com/)
  • Click the "SELECT FILES" button, and select your mp3-file
  • Click "Start Upload" and wait for it to finish
  • Click the link that appeared on the right
  • You are now on the download page of your song. In there you can listen to the song, get links to your song, or get the html code needed to embed your song on a website or a forum. Warning: to embed a song on Elementsforum.co.cc (http://elementscommunity.org/forum), you currently need admin rights. You can however insert regular links to your song.

Example of embedded song:
Silvershine by Danosongs.com (http://www.danosongs.com/)
Hosted by kiwi6.com free mp3 upload.  Download mp3

If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Thanks.

Actually, that's quite awesome SG.  We discussed about the medium which submissions would be listed, but Kiwi6 didn't even come up.  Nice find definitely.

I'd just like to point out that in the initial competition rules post, it isn't very obvious that "RULE CHANGE" is a link. I only assumed SG's post was the rule change after browsing the entire thread.

It is now fixed.

Well, I managed to finally put something together, though I was limited to what this pile of junk that I call computer let me to do.
Somewhat still under construction.

:: Submission (http://soundcloud.com/tikotribe/the-elder-song-v-2-x2-rm-mp3) ::

Play time: 00:28:71
mp3/vbr - free for taking

:: Remastered (http://soundcloud.com/tikotribe/the-elder-song-v-2-x2-rm) ::

Play time: 00:28:71
FLAC/700kbps - free for taking

It's repeated once, as none of the music uploaders I found lets you make it a real loop. Also, soundcloud functions the same as kiwi, too bad there's no embed.

Note, that my only real instrument at the moment is a partially broken udu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Udu), so there are a few royalty-free loops used in there, so judge accordingly.
Also my mastering skills are close to non-existent, so I propose volume control or/and headphones if it sounds 'too low'.
Hope you like drums, have fun :]

/Programs Used: Sony Sound Forge 10; ACID Pro 7/

Edit: Had a little time, tried to clean it up a bit/remaster, replaced the original upload (and also uploaded in FLAC - for those who care), it should probably sound better now.. I hope..

Excellent work. I am envious. That would make a great ai3 song - kind of subdued but the drums give it a little bit of a "working" rhythm...
