The battle had been raging for months now. One by one, the other flags had fallen: first the green, then the sudden extinguishing of many others. Only seven of the flags had remained, then. The next two had fallen – a white flag and a blue, their struggles to seize control ended.
After then, five had remained. RootRanger looked up proudly at his red flag, knowing they had made it this far. He continued recalling what had led to this moment – the grievous error or miscalculation that led to the downfall of the pink flag. The pink flag having fallen, only 4 had remained. The leaders of the teal flag were no longer there – both deuce22 and Higurashi, the greatest devotees of the teal, were no longer behind its banner, but still their past victories made them a fierce threat. But the warleader Hainkarga too saw his banner fall.
Just three flags then had remained: the gold, the black, and the red. SpikeSpiegel and his noted frugality had proved a worthy opponent behind the golden flag. With hourglasses, ghosts, and pharaohs, summoning beings of the past, trapping their opponents in Eternal loops. It was not to be his time either, however, for his time had run out. Having just barely been extinguished, Spike and his band behind the golden flag sat near the arena where the banners still flew.
His recollections ended, RootRanger turned to the amorphous soldiers lurking under clouds of darkness under the Black flag ahead. He knew that within the cloud resided Odii_Odsen, the great Master of Darkness himself. Flanked by two of his soldiers, mrpaper and Avenger, he turned to them and hastily made a plan for battle.
To Avenger he called out “Burn them with your fire.” And Avenger did. With bolts of fire he cut down Odii Odsen’s dragons; with his flaming sword, Odii himself. Yet two soldiers remained under the cloud of darkness. RootRanger reached into his pack and pulled out a kaleidoscope, smashing it on the ground and shouting “Be free, my birds, be free!” And with that, Annele’s gargoyles were overwhelmed by infinite phoenixes. But one final soldier stood under the black flag. Turning to mrpaper, he shouted, “Let us together summon the greatest hero of the fire nation, Jonnington Firestall.” And so they did. Casting bolts of fire together into the final form of the forces of darkness, and inthisroom was out of the battle. The teal flag was removed, and the red flag should fly over the land, until again War comes to the World of Elements.
This drawing by MegroN depicts the final battle between the armies of the Red and Black flags, with the Golden flag held on the side.
