Graphics Design Competition: New Forum Header Image

It would be nice to have an exact measured size in which we are required to fit our images. Otherwise I'm just going to post what I have in the expanded forum header with profile information.

Like I said in chat, the exact sizes are there for everyone to see. Just take a screenshot when the header is collapsed and paste it on your photoshop or whatever you are using.

Furthermore this competition is mainly about the idea not pixels. Still it's good to have some idea on what the size is.

Hmm.. you might want to adjust that attitude of yours.

I am well aware that the logo defines the size of the header. After all, I put it there.

I'm not going to make the logo bigger and increase the vertical scrolling only so that we can have bigger header background images. The size is what it is, and part of the challenge is to make it work in such a limited space.

I will probably do something about the profile image so that once expanded, there won't be as much empty space, but the collapsed version stays as it is.

That's fine, I can work with the size... but what attitude? I'm only trying to be helpful and I only asked because in the original images I made, I re-did the logo as well so that's something I will have to take into consideration when I slice the image.

Currently, the size of the header (height wise) is approximately 300px when in open mode, and 165px when in collapsed mode.

If the competition is about the idea and not pixels, then why did you say my images are too tall? If height is a non-issue you wouldn't have said so in the competition rules. Furthermore, I operate on a laptop and don't run my browser windows fullscreen. Depending on the width of the window, the height of the forum header changes, because the navigation buttons get pushed to two rows if the window is small enough. Whether or not there are height restrictions doesn't matter to me, as long as I know what I can work with. Even if I take a picture of the collapsed header, it may not be exactly the height you are looking for. I can take a picture of the header with four different heights, so I will assume I need to fit it into the tightest of the four, which is way too small for the kinds of images I was going for. I'm just going to submit the header concept images and let them speak for themselves.

I probably should have said that the image height is 165px max but frankly I saw no point in doing so because I naturally assumed everyone would use the header image as background, therefore automatically seeing the correct size. First doing the images and then trying to figure out how to make them fit is the wrong way of doing this thing.

Yes, all the good art will be used somewhere (if the artist gives permission). There are other places too where we can use them. And who knows, maybe they can even be used in the game.

Oh, man are you serious?!

Did your hard drive fail or what?

I was loading up a website and it looked like my computer was "thinking", like it gets sometimes, but then it just froze, which just doesn't happen on a Mac. I restarted only to find a blinking Folder icon with a big ? in the middle of it. I'm going to see if I can repair my hard drive but if that doesn't work I'm going to have to get another hard drive.
