Unfortunately it also requires more loading for user and a lot more coding for me .. but maybe we could make something like that happen.
What about this?
Elements is about 1vs1 battle, right? So instead on having cards from only one element, we could have two "decks" fighting each other.
We could have 6 different backgrounds, and from these 6, one would be chosen by random.
I'm okay with the 6 background idea, but doubling the amount of cards in the header means having to shrink all the cards. And I'd have to find a new way to lay them out.
As for the coding, I don't know how familiar you are with css, but it could just be one image with fixed background positioning. The initial image would be larger, but the browser would cache it upon the first visit. You can also include php code in a css document, so you could write a function for choosing the random background and just call the php function in the css file. Even with 6 separate images you could include the url in the php function. Either way, it would be incredibly easy to code.
After removing those old ugly cards and seeing how nice and peaceful the background without any pictures is, we are definitely not going to that "battle of elements" I talked about earlier. The background needs to be simple.
I really like those images you did and it might be a good idea to test it out. If you have time, produce a beta image of one elements and we'll test it.
Couple of things:
1. The cards are too big. They need to be so that when a user "closes" the navigation, the card images won't go past that horizontal white line (as seen on my screen shot).
2. Card dimensions are wacky. I don't know if it was intended but they are not rectangle. I'd like them to look as realistic as possible so maybe that can be fixed?
3. That "angel dust" effect is awesome. That's definitely going to happen no matter whose idea will be chosen.
4. Three cards is probably a good number, although 5 could work too if the cards are made smaller. 50%+ of the cards should be
new cards (for marketing purposes).
To everyone else.. this does not mean that this suggestion has been chosen. Competition is still on. Everyone is allowed to make beta images that we can then test. Just post them on this thread and I'll make it happen.
