Winning the match does matter, in that in winning, you get seeded against other winners. 


Really, this event was never intended to have a single winner -- so on one level, you're absolutley right: winning an individual match doesn't actually matter except insofar as it adds to your team's total.  There are no prizes for the most successful player at the end except bragging rights, and it's entirely possible that the most successful player won't be on the winning team (largely overwriting those bragging rights). 

If that turns out to be a major concern for players (if it is please PM me rather than cluttering the battle thread,) it's something that we'll have to keep in mind when we work on future team-based events.

Sorry to clutter the thread once more, but it turns out to be another (well, the same) question. I am really kind of confused now:

winning an individual [??] match doesn't actually matter except insofar as it adds to your team's total. 

So the victory in a 3/5 match DOES count (next to the total of singular won matches) ??? ?

The rules in the rules and signup thread didn't quite say it explicitly, judging from e.g. the league rules (or any other sportive event for that matter) winning a complete match is more important than the single points made in that match.

I wasn't opting for any individual players to have gains by winning a match but really wondering whether the team will profit from that.

Sorry, I misspoke. Winning an individual GAME doesn't actually matter except insofar as it adds to your team's total.  There's no particular bonus for winning a match except that you get to win more GAMES than your opponent did.
