Elements Pictionary

Comp Has Started

This is a discussion topic on our ongoing project: EtG Pictionary

After Dracomageat suggested to create a Pictionary-alike competition, COs begun to think about it and their brilliant minds lead to this topic.

If you don't know what Pictionary is, you can take a look here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pictionary).

So far we have set what's following:

Current Ruleset
Some tests were made today and it looked pretty fun. But now we need your feedback, your ideas and suggestions...

So, how can we improve this idea? What should we do to run a competition like this?

Discuss!

No idea how to prevent cheating, but I like the game :) Never tried this here, but I assume it must be fun! :D

Anyway, I'm glad that something's going on here! Gratz! Glad to see active staff. At least part of it ;] (especially new COs are very active, I hope it's not only a short-lived zeal :) )

I was there when testing:D really funny but the thing with teammates in my opinion is kinda wrong. perhaps it should be in a different formation like this: sevaral teams with x players(3 or 4) and x rounds depending on the number of the players. now each turn one player is drawing and the other teams guess(not the teammates) next turn a different player is drawing, next turn different etc. Lets say that 4 teams of 3 players started the game. that means 4x3=12 rounds with every player of every team to have drawn a single time. In that way(with those numbers) each team can obtain up to 9 points(-4 cause teammates cant guess) and of course the team with most points win. As far as Im concerned in that way cheating is minimised and competition between teams rises!
Anyway, great idea for competition.  :D

Ok, but if draw not for my team, I might intentionally draw poorly, in a misleading way...

well I agree, but in that way other teams will draw badly as well and the competition will not work and we are heading again to cheating. but in a lighter way(in my opinion) and there will be a judge(you CO's) so if a team draws intentionally badly will lose some points perhaps. Another idea is that for each right guess the drawing team gains points. Anyway just saying my opinion;p if you want you can consider it :D

What if it was every person for themselves, and both the person who guesses the picture correctly and the person who draws it gets points? Nobody gets points if the picture isn't guessed correctly. Only one person can win though.

Yeah, I like this idea. I vote for that. It does not prevent cheating as a drawing person can always pm somebody in order to get points as well, but I think it's better than teams.

TEST 3 HAS BEEN COMPLETED

i would first like to thank iggythegreat and skyironsword for helping out in this test :)

we tried this version of the point scoring system and it seemed very balanced. we will most likely use this way of scoring in future tests.

just in case your curious as to who won, me and sky ended on 5 points each while iggy was on 4. gg :)

Should we have categories, like creatures, spells, and permanents? So the player who's drawing can announce which categoy the card s/he's drawing is in. This might mae the game easier, as creatures, smells, and permanents are quiet distinguishable.
Any thoughts?

the catagories idea would reduce the challenge too much imo. good drawers will make it distinguishable too easy for there to be a real challenge.

i will be holding a proper competition in the tourney room next week so be there!

"Oh magic lord 8 ball, will we ever have a pictionary tournament?"

"Don't count on it"

I guess we won't be having one then ^^
we might, it depends on how many are interested

I know I am, but organising this kind of comp in chat is kinda difficult, good luck.
