Competition: Design a CompetitionBecause we're so busy that we have no time to look at the ideas thread anyway(http://s30.postimg.org/ybquski0x/staff.jpg)
Have you ever wanted to see a competition you created hosted but never got around to saying the idea because you think it won't happen? Do you think we're being repetitive and re-using too many competitions and you're just dying to toss us some new ideas? Well then, it's time for the Design A Competition Competition! (Yeah, I used it twice.)
The essence of the competition is easy to grab, so let's skip the prelims and get right to the rules, ladies and gentlemen, and elementals...
Rules: - Design a Competition (a serious one, and not a joke one, please) that you'd like to see hosted. The competition must not include any form of PvP, optional or not. Screenshots from in-game as the main idea for the competition is fine, but making duels a need would turn it into a PvP event, and I don't think that's the focus of this competition, right?
- All competitions must be submitted in this thread using the following format (Color it as you see fit) :
Competition Name
IMAGES NOT ALLOWED!
Competition description (Y'know, the introduction!)
Rules:
[li]Extend this as you see fit.[/li]
[li]If your competition is divided in several phases, or you just want to explain the phases, then change "Rules" for "First Phase".[/li]
Second Phase
[li]Delete all of this if you do not have a second phase or are not writing in phases.[/li]
FAQ (if needed)
- As always... respect the forum rules. No offensive material, PG-13, you should know all of this. Anyway, respect it. And the human rights. Respect those too.
- Your competition's really good? Your competition won this competition? Well good news -- apart from your award icon and your spot in our Competition Winners thread, we might just host your competition!!... although we may make some minor changes if needed.
To submit your Competition you have
All hail RNG!
To thank RNG for her never ending support in the elements matches, we will build her some altars.
Rules:
- Take a photograph of the altar you built and send it to the organisers.
- The only limitation for the altar is, that you have to build it yourself. In real life. With hands or tools n' stuff.
- The community will vote on the best altary RNG altar for 3 topics:
- 1: Altary altar. How well could that thing be described as being an altar.
- 2: RNGyness. How well does that picture fit to RNG
- 3: Awesomeness. How awesome is it? Does it make you want to build one yourself?
- The sum of the scores will decide the winner
FAQ
- Where do the stamps go in a letter?
Top right. No clue what it helps for this competition though.
- Do Mark cards count as pillars?
Yes, they count as pillars and in-element cards. Still, what's the relevance?
- What are the thoughts of a photon, crossing the event horizon of a black hole of the size of around 2k suns, if its origin is earth in the year 1971, 2nd december at 2 afternoon sharp, in Zürich (swizzerland), Bahnhofstrasse, on the tinfoil hat from the guy walking bast the chocolate shop, caused by a reflection from the solar flare.
It will think about pizza. Also I'm done answering imaginary questions that have no relevance to the topic on hand.
Falsifying Journals
After a long day, what do the False Gods do? We don't know! Through research, though, we know that at the conclusion of each day, they write in a journal or diary.
So: It's your turn to write (7) entries as a False God. Maybe Neptune writes about his dying mother before he accidentally overdoses. Maybe Fire Queen writes about her pet dinosaur and her recent apartment eviction notice. Who knows what these gods write, so be as funny or serious (or both!) as you can!
Rules:
- One journal (7 entries) per person, from the perspective of only one False God.
- There must be 7 entries, each dated, and the dates must be consecutive.
- Minimum of 25 words and a maximum of 350 words per entry. We will be using this tool (http://www.wordcounttool.com/)
- You must mention at least 3 cards (upped or unupped) from that False Gods' deck.

Tough day at work. Even tougher now that Mom is sick again. I went to go see her at the hospital, she's having trouble breathing. They say her body temperature is extremely low.....
October 12th, 2010
Oh God she's getting worse, but the doctors are hopeful. I, on the other hand...
October 13th, 2010
So I called my siblings to get a flight, immediately, into the area, but they can't get in because of the local flooding. Mom hasn't much time, they say that her lung tissue has literally congealed. I really don't know what I'll do without her....
October 14th, 2010
Today I thought I saw a blue crawler floating right in front of me. I tried to grab it, instead I snatched at the air. I'd call my therapist, but I can't leave Mom's side...
October 15th, 2010
Mom hasn't awoken in the past 19 hours. I haven't slept for the past 24 hours. I keep seeing things little squids everywhere, and I just want to sleep, so I might have to take some pills...
October 16th, 2010
She's not going to wake up, is she? Oh God. She's going to die... I still haven't slept, but Mom has a prescription for sleep medication, she doesn't need them. Oh God, I'm sick.
October 17th, 2010
Well, it's 11:00pm and she just died. Like a shockwave, the news rippled through the entire town, and everyone is mourning. I hate this, but I just swallowed a handful of something, so I'll be sleeping...
Goodnight.

Elements the Film - Competiton
In the not so distant future, a big Hollywood producer discovered the amazing world of Elements the Game and decided it would be perfect for the big screen. And now they need you, as someone who plays and loves Elements, to design and create the advertising posters for said motion picture.
Rules:
- You must design and create a film poster for the upcoming Elements film.
- The film can be of any genre, and the poster should match. Your poster could depict War 7 whilst the next entry depicts a fire elemental who falls in love with a water elemental. It's totally up to you.
- This being a film poster and not just fan art, you must include the following aspects:
- Title - Can be anything that includes the name 'Elements' or 'Element' or 'Elemental' or something similar. 'Elements', 'The Last Element', 'Elements: The Dark World' or 'Elements IV: The Quest For Peace' are all valid examples.
- Release Date - Just make this up, or just use July 7th 2017. So long as there is one, it doesn't matter when.
- Actors, Director and Producer - We want to know who's going to star in your block buster. You can use real names, made up names or even forum members.
- Other bits you may want to include; a tag-line or catchphrase, a web address for more info, a QR code or any other film poster norm.
- Your poster should be of a decent size and resolution (not too big nor too small) and should conform to all forum rules on language/ discrimination/ pornography etc.
- Submissions should be posted in this thread.
- Voting will last for 1 week. The poster with the most votes will win. If there is a tie for the most votes, a second vote will be held. The winner will receive a swanky forum icon which has not yet been designed.
FAQ
Q: What do you mean when you keep saying "film"? Doesn't that mean a thin layer of something?
A: If you don't use "film" in your local dialect, replace it with "movie" and see if all becomes clear.
Q: There's an Elements film?! Wow, when can I expect to see it?
A: There is no elements film. I lied. Sorry. Unless there is one, in which case I totally called it.
Q: But someone is going to enter with a super amazing poster with special effects all over the page and they'll just win completely. How can I possibly compete with that?
A: Minimalist film posters can look better than posters jam-packed with explosions and lightning and ninjas etc. Go with any art style you think is the best.
Q: But my free trial of Photoshop just expired and I'm too poor to buy it. How can I possibly compete against the arty giants?
A: There are other softwares on the web which you can download for free or very cheap. Failing that, use MS paint. Failing that, doodle it on a sheet of A4 and take a picture.
Q: But my computer just exploded and the explosion caused all my paper to catch fire as well as causing me to sprain both my wrists so that I can't draw at all. What can I do?
A: Cry.
Q: But vrt just entered. What can I do?
A: Cry.
Q: But I've just been chopping onions. What can I do?
A: Cry.
Create a Card and a False God Competition
Creating cards is fun. Creating FG decks is fun. Why not combine the two into one super awesome competition? For this competition your task will be to create two cards, and then to build a False God themed around using those two cards and one in game card.
Rules:
- The two cards you create must be of different elements or card types (or both).
- You are free to use a deck image builder tool like this (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/design-theory/pm-me-to-make-your-cia-deck%27s-image!/msg1050416/#msg1050416), use a drawing tool, or just use the deck export tool with card substitutions.
- The three cards don't all have to be related to each other, you can have your FG focus on two strategies, or tie them together in some other way.
- Your FG should be difficult but beatable, like most of the ones in the game. This is of course difficult to test with CIA cards, but that's what voting is for.
Replace a Shard Challenge
So everyone's complaining about shards being OP, right? Well, here's your chance to make 'em redundant! In this challenge, you'll design a card that has the same ability or effect on another card as one Shard of your choice. Extra points go to new combos and subtle mechanics that weren't there in the originals.
Rules:
- Pick only one shard. If you have more than one idea, you've got to submit twice or partner up with another person.
- The new card you create has to cost quanta of the same element as the Shard you've chosen.
- It does not need to have art, although that's a very nice idea.
- Any cards submitted should be submitted in the general Card Ideas & Art forum and linked back to the competition page.
