Competition: Design a Competition
Original Idea by Dm1321 - Hosted by SpikeSpiegel

Because we're so busy that we have no time to look at the ideas thread anyway

Have you ever wanted to see a competition you created hosted but never got around to saying the idea because you think it won't happen? Do you think we're being repetitive and re-using too many competitions and you're just dying to toss us some new ideas? Well then, it's time for the Design A Competition Competition! (Yeah, I used it twice.)
The essence of the competition is easy to grab, so let's skip the prelims and get right to the rules, ladies and gentlemen, and elementals...

All hail RNG!
To thank RNG for her never ending support in the elements matches, we will build her some altars.

FAQ
 - Where do the stamps go in a letter?
Top right. No clue what it helps for this competition though.

 - Do Mark cards count as pillars?
Yes, they count as pillars and in-element cards. Still, what's the relevance?

 - What are the thoughts of a photon, crossing the event horizon of a black hole of the size of around 2k suns, if its origin is earth in the year 1971, 2nd december at 2 afternoon sharp, in Zürich (swizzerland), Bahnhofstrasse, on the tinfoil hat from the guy walking bast the chocolate shop, caused by a reflection from the solar flare.
It will think about pizza. Also I'm done answering imaginary questions that have no relevance to the topic on hand.

Rules question: Do computer simulated duels used in a deckbuilding competition count as mandatory PVP?

Computer simulated duels had already been a PvP event. So it would be considered a PvP event and not a Competition.

Falsifying Journals

After a long day, what do the False Gods do? We don't know! Through research, though, we know that at the conclusion of each day, they write in a journal or diary.
So: It's your turn to write (7) entries as a False God. Maybe Neptune writes about his dying mother before he accidentally overdoses. Maybe Fire Queen writes about her pet dinosaur and her recent apartment eviction notice. Who knows what these gods write, so be as funny or serious (or both!) as you can!

October 11th, 2010
Tough day at work. Even tougher now that Mom is sick again. I went to go see her at the hospital, she's having trouble breathing. They say her body temperature is extremely low.....

October 12th, 2010
Oh God she's getting worse, but the doctors are hopeful. I, on the other hand...

October 13th, 2010
So I called my siblings to get a flight, immediately, into the area, but they can't get in because of the local flooding. Mom hasn't much time, they say that her lung tissue has literally congealed. I really don't know what I'll do without her....

October 14th, 2010
Today I thought I saw a blue crawler floating right in front of me. I tried to grab it, instead I snatched at the air. I'd call my therapist, but I can't leave Mom's side...

October 15th, 2010
Mom hasn't awoken in the past 19 hours. I haven't slept for the past 24 hours. I keep seeing things little squids everywhere, and I just want to sleep, so I might have to take some pills...

October 16th, 2010
She's not going to wake up, is she? Oh God. She's going to die... I still haven't slept, but Mom has a prescription for sleep medication, she doesn't need them. Oh God, I'm sick.

October 17th, 2010
Well, it's 11:00pm and she just died. Like a shockwave, the news rippled through the entire town, and everyone is mourning. I hate this, but I just swallowed a handful of something, so I'll be sleeping...
Goodnight.

FAQ
Q: Can I write more/less than 7 entries?
A: No.

Q: Why seven days?
A: That is the duration of a week, so you can spread out the plot. Besides, journals are written in daily (usually).

Q: Can I mention other cards?
A: Yes, as long as you fulfill the original request of three from the FG's deck

Q: Uh.... I don't know too many FGs
A: Here's a list of FGs for you!
Akebono
 Chaos Lord
 Dark Matter
 Decay
 Destiny
 Divine Glory
 Dream Catcher
 Elidnis
 Eternal Phoenix
 Ferox
 Fire Queen
 Gemini
 Graviton
 Hecate
 Hermes
 Incarnate
 Jezebel
 Lionheart
 Miracle
 Morte
 Neptune
 Obliterator
 Octane
 Osiris
 Paradox
 Rainbow
 Scorpio
 Seism
 Serket

Q: That big, bad, mean Dm1321 already submitted a journal of Neptune! And he used Flooding, Arctic Squid, and Congeal!
A: Don't worry, you can write as Neptune as well, you can even use those cards! It's okay! Have fun!

You have TWO WEEKS to submit and voting will last one week.
Post your submissions in this thread.

What's up doc?(Doctor)
Description: Build a deck that heals itself, and has a ttw average of at least 11.
Rules:
The deck must have a turns to win average of at least 11 (or lower).
(Worth up to 5 points. The lowest turns to win average and any person with exactly an 11 turns to win average will be awarded 5 points. The 2nd and 3rd lowest will be awarded 4 points. Then 4th and 5th will get 3. And of course 6th and 7th will get 2. Finally, anyone else who met the requirement will be awarded 1 point. These games should be played against ai3 and with no less then 20 games. It is worth up to an extra point for doing 100 games with your deck as long as it falls under or exact of 11 turns to win.) [For TO to decide: Should these points stack? Like if a person with the exact 11 turns to win get a total of 6 points? I think so because it will make going after such a hard task more worth it.]

The deck must contain 13 healing cards. (Worth half a point for each healing card after.)

A deck must be no larger then 46 cards.

Healing shards (including shard of focus) & shard of bravery are banned (Up for TO to decide if the other shards should be banned. I just thought for a deck building competition the other shards shouldn't really matter. And maybe the healing shards could be unbanned but not counted towards any points. Plus over half the community wanted to see shards allowed for competitions.)

With these cards in your deck, for each one you will get half a point.
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
52i 52k 52m 5f3 5f5 5oi 5rj 5rt 623 8pk

FAQ:
Question: Whats up with the weird numbers? Like 11, 13, and especially 46.
Answer: for 46;I felt a deck size cap was necessary with the 13 healing cards rule and a half a point after each healing card beyond that. Also I originally thought 42 to go along with the convenient numbers theme, but felt it was too low so I raised it to 46 because 6 is in my kong username.
For 13; 13 is bad luck, so its used to make this competition harder. :D
And for 11; 11 is supposedly the start of something new, and if a healing deck can win 10 PVP2 matches in a row, that deck may be a new hit in the community because it would also give the option for EM's, kind of a best of both worlds type of deck. :D

Question: Why were the points issued out the way they were? I thought it should be something low for each condition met so players are encouraged to meet more conditions. Then based on self evaluation of how hard each condition is I assigned a low number of points throughout.

Question: Why is it another 80 games for bonus points? Isnt that a little much?
There are n00b's that play for more then 80 games to then start going on ai4. You can relive the experience, or go through yourself for the first time, veterans getting a second feel for how new players feel is good so that they can make more decks to help out the newer players or even edit some of the newer players deck to better kill what AI3 is actually throwing out, instead of general advice that makes decks better. Not to mention games against the AI are fast anyway. And if your a new player, then these extra 80 games will help you along your progress a lot in this game, have fun!

Question: Why did you choose those cards to give us half a point each for?
Answer: I chose those because they were underused cards from elements with no healing cards in them. It might be a little large though for this competition..GOOD LUCK! HAVE FUN!

Competition: Ecosystem
by Terran 3

In every world, there exists a natural equilibrium. The strong prey upon the weak, while the scavengers scour the land free of the dead and dying. Placid beasts graze contentedly as winged predators exult in the thrill of the hunt...

General Concept

In this competition, participants are given the goal of creating an ecosystem consisting of the creatures found in Elements itself.

Rules

We know that the world of Elements is populated by a myriad of different creatures. But what do we know of them? What kind of habitat do they live in? How do these creatures survive in the wild? Do they hunt? Do they ambush smaller prey? Or do they obtain sustenance in a whole new way? You decide!

Each participant is given the task of building an ecosystem in which the creatures of Elements can roam and interact with one another. Don't be afraid to incorporate non-creature cards into your ecosystem. For example, Boneyard may represent a piece of cursed land, where the dead awaken from their slumber and feed upon the living. Creativity is the name of the game here.

Entries are submitted in the form of writing, around 300-500 words in length.

FAQ

Q: How long does this competition last?
A: It should range from one to two weeks.

Q: The creatures I want to use are already in another entry!
A: No problem, there's no restriction that says participants can't write about the same creatures.

A: Just one? Hundrents of examples in here! (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/visual-arts/paint-with-element/)

Elements the Film - Competiton

In the not so distant future, a big Hollywood producer discovered the amazing world of Elements the Game and decided it would be perfect for the big screen. And now they need you, as someone who plays and loves Elements, to design and create the advertising posters for said motion picture.

Rules:

FAQ

Q: What do you mean when you keep saying "film"? Doesn't that mean a thin layer of something?
A: If you don't use "film" in your local dialect, replace it with "movie" and see if all becomes clear.

Q: There's an Elements film?! Wow, when can I expect to see it?
A: There is no elements film. I lied. Sorry. Unless there is one, in which case I totally called it.

Q: But someone is going to enter with a super amazing poster with special effects all over the page and they'll just win completely. How can I possibly compete with that?
A: Minimalist film posters can look better than posters jam-packed with explosions and lightning and ninjas etc. Go with any art style you think is the best.

Q: But my free trial of Photoshop just expired and I'm too poor to buy it. How can I possibly compete against the arty giants?
A: There are other softwares on the web which you can download for free or very cheap. Failing that, use MS paint. Failing that, doodle it on a sheet of A4 and take a picture.

Q: But my computer just exploded and the explosion caused all my paper to catch fire as well as causing me to sprain both my wrists so that I can't draw at all. What can I do?
A: Cry.

Q: But vrt just entered. What can I do?
A: Cry.

Q: But I've just been chopping onions. What can I do?
A: Cry.

Create a Card and a False God Competition

Creating cards is fun.  Creating FG decks is fun.  Why not combine the two into one super awesome competition?  For this competition your task will be to create two cards, and then to build a False God themed around using those two cards and one in game card.

Replace a Shard Challenge

So everyone's complaining about shards being OP, right? Well, here's your chance to make 'em redundant! In this challenge, you'll design a card that has the same ability or effect on another card as one Shard of your choice. Extra points go to new combos and subtle mechanics that weren't there in the originals.
