Competition: Card Border Redesign

Man, everything is good in a certain department. Overall, I like the cleanliness of vrt's and Dragoon's, but I also like the idea of putting ^ up arrows on upgraded cards to make them more obvious. I had trouble telling the difference when I first started. Maybe we could put it at the bottom left of the picture, like in the slots? :3

vrt has a good idea with putting the card type right below the name. Like with upgraded cards, I really had no idea what the symbols meant in the beginning (partly because I'm stupid and skimmed over the tutorial). But we should still be as newbie-friendly as possible, right? Also, for some reason I like the white borders around his cards, as well as the squareness. I can't tell you why, because I just do for no real reason. I guess I just don't like rounded corners? xD

Quotes are a cool idea, but unnecessary. I wouldn't mind either way.

Is it legal to mess with the card art?  Not the border, the actual creature picture.  I'm not thinking of changing them dramatically, just applying some effects to match the card border I have in mind.

For all intents and purposes, yes. Even though this is about the card border, changing the actual ingame pictures, even just to match, has an influence on the overall image. To make things fair for everyone, they'll have to use the same images in game without modifications(aside from up or down scaling them.)

They aren't being implemented into the game. This is just a forum competition for fun. So far, only the FG competition of the past actually made it into the game, and so might the new FG's of the newest competitions.

apart form the obvious changes I would also like to see rares being more different to regular cards, I know that alchemy cards are not rare but as they are connected to the nymphs which are ultra rare the could be special too.

You are only supposed to submit three images. So if you don't remove two, when the submission period is over, I will be using only the top three images.

Very original design The Dictator. I like it a lot. But imo it can be made a lot cleaner with sleeker look which would make it really awesome. This would beat the other competetions pretty easily if it was done.


By the way Kamietsu, where can i get high resolution in game art for attempting a border design of my own if i had time. I need 2 card arts of in-game cards belonging to 2 different elements, one being a creature and another permanent. Can somebody link some images please ?

They don't exist anywhere that we know of or have access to. A few people here used some art that has a higher resolution, since they were posted by our very own artists Vrt and Pepokish.

You can use the above website to turn bitmap into scalable vector images. It'll look much better than when it's pixelated.

That's a bit of unfair advantage.
