How would such slots function? I say, Let's see what your thinking.

I think it is nice that we finally make that idea a reality.

It just has to be a new slot that very specific cards can only go. So it has to be unique, meaning already in game cards can't be placed into these slots for mechanical balance purposes. But if you want to make a creature slot where a new set of unique creatures can be placed, or new unique spells can be placed, feel free.

(I'm going to pretty much give away my unoriginal idea here by saying Nightfall and Flooding are the only ones I can think of at the moment), making the slot the only place in which they can be played? (Like weapons and shields)

Too many questions and it's worded difficutly for me. Simple answer to hopefully all or most of them:

You make a new slot that will be somewhere on the playing field. Where it is is only for visual pleasure, so you don't have to say where the actually slot is. The slot can do plenty of things, there is really little to no limit on what it can do. How cards are played into it are your choice too. However, the cards for that slot can go no where else but that slot. (A weapon can never go into a shield slot, etc.) As for the mehcanics of the cards individually, it's up to you as well. The slot itself is just a placeholder for a new set of specific cards.

No. you have to show cards that will go into the new slot. Only three cards. After the compeetition is over, feel free to extend upon your slot idea as much as you want.
