Card Design War #1
Let the battle creation begin...
Objective:
-Survive as the
ultimate card designer in this new Card-Design PvP format!
Main Rules:
- Before the Tournament begins, members are first asked to sign-up for the competition. A maximum of 16-32 players can sign-up; there are no 'substitutes' if a player decides to forfeit during the competition.
- The Tournament is organized in a single-elimination format. Each round, participants are seeded against one another (brackets will be provided) and given a royalty-free piece of artwork to design a card concept. The artwork cannot be modified in any way, shape, or form.
- Starting from the first round, there will be a special set of requirements to what the card does or how it must behave. (i.e. - the card cannot deal direct damage to the player/the card must be of the element X, etc.)
- *Tables are not used in this format. Specialized 'boxes' will be made for participants to enter their card images into. Users who fail to to create the cards will be disqualified.
- Participants post their card ideas in the special Tournament Sticky found here: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,23196.0.html - All other topics regarding the 'Tournament cards' will be ignored and/or deleted.
- All cards are then accumulated in the voting phase; each of the 'card battles' are shown on display in a single post, with a poll for each 'card battle' (every two cards in a 'duel' has a poll with two options). Members are then asked to vote for either idea from the two card ideas that are competing against one another. Cards that fit the requirements accurately and are innovative will succeed; ones that don't will fail and be dropped.
- Once the winners of that round are declared, the seeding is repeated and new royalty-free art assigned, with harder limitations for the round and new polls. This process repeats until there is only one left standing...
Will you be the Card Making Master? Or just a Card Creating Disaster?Tournament Setup:

CARD-DESIGNING PHASE (FINAL ROUND):
Voting will be up shortly!SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:- You MUST fulfill 5 of the requirements used in the previous rounds. You may choose what requirements to fill, but you must list what requirements you satisfied within your NOTES section of the competition entry.
- You cannot use the word, 'Elite', in the card NAME.
- The COST of both cards must be an even number. (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12...)
- Both cards cannot have the same COST.
- The COST of both cards must be a minimum of 7 quanta. (Example: Obsidian Dragon, Thorn Carapace, Rain of Fire)
- The COST of both cards needs to be equal to the number of characters (numbers and letters) in your forum name. (Example: Kuroaitou = 9 letters; the card must cost 9 quanta)
- If the card is a creature, it must have a passive skill. (Example: Airborne, Poisonous, Voodoo, Obsession)
- If the card is a creature, it must have a equivalent stats to a creature already in its element. (Example: If it's a Gravity creature, it could have stats of 0|3 like the Otyugh, or 2|30 like the Elite Armagio. If it's a Time creature, it could have stats like Deja Vu with 1|1, etc.)
- If the card is a creature, it MUST have an active ability of the opposite element. (Examples: Steam Machine, Anubis)
- If the card is a permanent, it must have an activated ability. (Examples: Golden Hourglass, Pulverizer, Trident, Trebuchet, Mindgate)
- If the card is a permanent, it must have some form of 'counters' or a timed duration to it. (Examples: Bone Wall, Sundial, Hope, Wings, Phase Shield, Cloak)
- If the card is a permanent, it needs to consume quanta from the user while it's in play (Examples: Dissipation Shield, Flooding)
- If the card is a spell, it should not force the player to target something in order to work. (Examples: Black Hole, Nova, Heal, Purify, Poison, Precognition)
- If the card is a spell, it must drain all quanta (of an element) the moment it is used (Examples: Miracle, Fractal)
Picture Match-ups (FINAL ROUND):Yep, that's right. You get to CHOOSE any picture from the below spoiler
that you haven't used in a previous duel. In other words, the images that were given to you in Rounds 1-4 are off limits, but everything else is free game! Choose your piece wisely, as the restrictions above may prove more challenging than one would assume...
Remember - if you do NOT follow the image rules as explicitly told in your match-up spoilers provided above, you automatically forfeit the match.
Good luck! Voting phase will occur in a separate thread.
