DeckBuilding Competition - Elements: A Game Of Politics

Congratulations PM David Cameron! Heyo Obama bro, tell me how our old friend Putin is doing.

Here's what you do: Build a Trio deck that represents a country's current Government and/or Monarchy! So anyone who picks the US can build a deck based off of President Obama himself and/or his entire administration (you can't build one based on Hilary Clinton or Ronald Reagan). Those who picked Great Britain can build a deck based off of the Queen and/or PM David Cameron and/or his entire administration. Others who picked Russia can build their deck based on Putin and/or Putin's entire administration.

Some things you need to know:
  • One country per deck per person.
  • Upgraded and Unupgraded cards allowed.
  • The deck must be a Trio: Two elements must be colors of your country's flag, the last color can be anything you'd like. Entropy will be considered a red. Air and water will be considered blue. Aether will be considered green. This is to take into consideration the huge amounts of flags with those colors. (And they are relatively close to those colors).

Spoiler for YOU NEED TO OPEN THIS:
    :entropy - Red
     :death - Purple
     :gravity - Orange
     :earth - Brown
     :life - Green
     :fire - Red
     :water - Blue
     :light - White
     :air - Blue
     :time - Yellow
     :darkness - Black
     :aether - Green

  • "Other" cards (like relic and hammer) do not get any color recognition. In reality you could have 27 quantum towers, 1 fire pillar, 1 water pillar, and 1 light pillar. And call it Obama or USA (but that doesn't make any sense).
  • Mark is irrelevant to Trio-ness of the deck.
  • A description of the deck is acceptable and definitely encouraged. (Remember though: this is not a writing competition, we don't look for lore, just reasoning).
  • The deck's practicality is NOT the number one priority. It may be considered, but the number one priority is effective representation. The deck should not often lose to AI1.

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground.

Note: The testing against AI 1 was done with a deck using only six Crusaders for obvious reasons. The extra Crusaders in there are only for the theme.

Spoiler for explanation:
Darkness Cards (represents African American)
Vampire: Barack Obama, most known for healing (i.e. Obamacare)
Dark Nymph: Michelle Obama, has more of an approach on being active (all her programs for being fit are represented by you actually clicking and stuff rather than the Vampire that doesn't require clicking

Light Cards (represents mainly white people with the exception of the Sanctuary and a few Angels/Crusaders)
Light Tower: No significance
Unupped Crusaders: The male cabinet members
Guardian Angels: The female cabinet members
Upped Crusader: Joe Biden (vice president)
Sanctuary: The white house where Obama lives

Water Cards (not anything in particular being represented as an element)
Water Tower: No significance, just for quanta generation
Shard of Patience: Shows the patience of the creatures (the cabinet)

Other Cards
Gavel: Is used by the Crusaders as they judge and decide on things

There, this is based on my limited knowledge on the people in the USA government..

I present to you: Hungary

Spoiler for Explanation:
About Hungary:

It's a wreck. The current government has/had 2/3 majority in the parliament, which means that they could do pretty much whatever they wanted to.

About the deck/country: You have a system that at first glance might even work, but on close inspection it's unbalanced, underfunded, and generally is just not good. And should something work it's a true miracle (among the bunch of fake ones)

Spoiler for The recipe::
Take a country with little history or experience with democracy. Add 50+ years of soviet occupation. Mix it with a handful of politicians who grew up in said era.

This mixture will result in an unstable, polarized system. Cook it for 20-25 years, so the politicians grow older and more corrupt.

Once done, let one pole of the system collapse so that the other doesn't have any real opposition, then let them rule for a few years.

...And your dish is ready to serve. You finally have a country where morale is low, people hate everyone, social and healthcare are in decline, and the younger generations prefer going abroad to find work and they hardly ever come back. Enjoy! Don't forget to share with your friends!

Flag of Great Britain
Red, White, Blue.

Spoiler for Flag Image:

DISCLAIMER: I am anti-UKIP, and anti-Conservative. I don't mean to offend.

Colours of Political Parties Used
Conservative (Blue - Water) (David Cameron - Priminister)
Labour (Red - Fire)
UKIP - United Kingdom Independence Party (Purple - Death)

Explanation
The Conservatives (Blue - Water) are in power after a very recent election. They want to privatise everything, cut spending, and essentially care about the rich much more than the poor.
Cards:
Physalia: A lot of Conservative policies are subtle - they are very good at representing themselves as less right-wing than they actually are. These creatures represent little threat to start with, but will you will slowly realise they are dangerous, and by then it's too late.
Permafrost: The Conservatives will freeze public spending, making it hard for public services to function.
Nymph's Tears: It's too late for those who decided to vote Conservative at the last minuet to change their minds. These represent their sadness, and will turn into Nymphs of another party with their changing opinions.

Labour (Red - Fire) are in turmoil. Mistrust after the Iraq war and the financial crisis left voters looking elsewhere.
Cards:
Explosion: Lots of military power was used in a very unpopular war. These explosions are hard to forget about.
Rage Potion: Voters raged, finding scapegoats in Labour for the Global Financial Crisis.
Fire Pendulum: Many life-long Labour voters flipped their vote over to conservative. They might well flip back again once they realise how much Conservative ideals differ from their own.

UKIP (Purple - Death) even more dangerous than Conservatives, UKIP gained a lot of votes. They are heavily anti-immigration, and people are voting for them either because they have scapegoated immigrants (of all types, leading to this being branded a racist party), or  that they don't trust the Conservatives or Labour anymore, and UKIP are 'new'. They do not realise that UKIP are far, far worse. They are SO right wing, but rely heavily on propaganda, making themselves out to be 'for the people' when they are even more pro-rich than any other party.
Skull Shield: Representing their propaganda, even people that don't trust them are sometimes being converted by their flyers, or charismatic leader.
Afflatoxin: Communities that might not have even voted in the past are being taken in by their 'New' brand that voters multiply by word of mouth, without knowing anything about policies.

Playing
This is actually hilariously fun to play. The combo of afla+rage+shield is great, and quanta balance seems ok. Very RNGy and loads of counters, but fun when works.

The People's Republic of China

The Middle Kingdom is one of the oldest civilizations in the history of man, if not the oldest as some recent findings may be hinting at. 92% of its people are Han Chinese, the largest ethnic group in the world at 19% globally. I believe their legacy is one of few that will persevere for all of Eternity.

Throughout history, the Chinese people have proven time and time again to be the most persevering through adversity, and its legacy and culture to be truly undying and always thriving no matter the circumstances. Growth and cooperation are the two things I think of first when I think of China. Selflessness is represented in the Phoenixes (low HP yet often played fearlessly) and Bonds as well (the Chinese phoenix is the Fenghuang).

As China was forced to accelerate its development, it did so at great cost for its people. This is when the sabotage from other nations and interests really started picking up. China had to continue to prove it could flourish under terrible circumstances, especially during the World Wars, but the extensive sabotage continues to modern days in an attempt to slow down the nation's progress. It has finally become a futile effort, as it was doomed to.

On the flag of the People's Republic of China you will find one large golden star and four smaller ones forming an eclipse that represents the territory of China. The large one originally represented the Communist Party of China and the four smaller ones the four social classes as listed in works by Mao (the working class, the peasantry, the urban petite bourgeoisie and the national bourgeoisie).

So in summary:
Phoenixes and Eternity = An everlasting legacy, selflessness. 1 large Phoenix being the Communist Party or the government and 4 Minor Phoenixes being the social classes or the nation's four directly controlled municipalities.
Mitosis and Bonds = Growth under all circumstances, cooperation, very early agricultural development.
Hourglasses = Forced, accelerated progress. 5 for the Communist Party and the 4 social classes, for they were all forced to accelerate progress.
Explosions and Firestorms = China's military might and versatility.

It plays out as the history of China; slowly building up and cultivating until it's a powerhouse, with contingency plans ready. First build had Burning Towers, which was more glorious and faster, but also less reliable and not in keeping with the theme. With a Mark of Fire, you'll always at least have the Minor Phoenixes, i.e. the people.
:aether  http://elementscommunity.org/forum/guilds/991-thunderbolts-ho!-991/ :aether
Aether is the prime Element present in all things, providing space, connection and balance for all Elements to exist.
Aether represents the sense of joy and union, and the ultimate potential of all things.

Spoiler for Hidden:
Light represents the current government state, I know we have fair elections, but for years the ruling party continues to maintain a very strong majority in our government, and because of the constituency system, they do get more percentage seats than that of the overall vote. Fairly reliable, despite the regular complaints we have over frequent train breakdowns and the like.
Sancs/Guardian Angels: Stability of our country, and a place with pretty low crime, and affordable healthcare.
Miracle: Our nation grew from a state ousted by Malaysia half a century ago to what could be considered an economic miracle, while the newer generation like I might not be here to experience it and take it for granted, the older generations still remember. This miracle's impact can be still seen and appreciated, as seen when our first PM passed away a few months back; many people went to pay their respects.
Blessings: Education is still an important aspect, it was pivotal to our development and molds our future leaders
Fire presents the opposition in general; while they have their uses, they are (for now) little in representation. Perhaps one day they'll become significant, but for now they'll remain, unyielding but having minimal influence in our current government.
Entropy/Discords represents the various trash-talkers in blogs, facebook posts etc. that warp the words of others to achieve their aims. I mean, personally I'd like to believe them, they would make some decent points now and then, but they make so much bullsh*t I don't take them seriously at all. They don't have a point in this deck at all.

Disclaimer: On the whole I'm pretty apathetic on my nation's politics for now, I don't read widely on them, but I tried my best in the purposes of making this deck. Forgive me if I make any errors

Hmm, writing all this makes me feel grateful to be where I am today.

The United States president Barack Obama stood before a crowd of thousands of people, with millions more watching from their televisions and computers. He was preparing himself for what historians would one day call the “greatest speech of the twenty-first century.” After a short pause, he approached the microphone and looked into the crowd.

“My fellow Americans,” the president began. “These past few months, our nation has been struggling. We have dealt with unemployment, debt, and a broken healthcare system. But the most important issue for all of us has been those vicious AI3 opponents that take away our electrum.”

“Tonight, I have a solution! I present to you a deck that I have personally created based on my own political stances.” The crowd gazed at the president in awe, eagerly awaiting his next words.

“The first card in the deck is Nova. I chose this card because it generates quanta of all the Elements, much like how a large government permeates into all areas of one’s life.” A few people in the audience clapped.

“The pendulums, which alternate between producing Time and Air quanta, represent how my political stances flip-flop back and forth. When I was a senator, I condemned the Patriot Act. But now that I’m president, I completely support it!” There were some laughs from the crowd.

“On the subject of mass surveillance, let’s take a look at the Precognitions. They let you see all of the cards in your opponent’s hand, just like how the NSA can see all of your private records.” There was a loud applause, thousands of happy Americans showing respect for their president.

“The sundials, of course, represent how I stalled for time before addressing the Snowden leaks.” The crowd stood up in their seats, cheering and clapping for the president in a magnificent display of patriotism

“Lastly, the Unstable Gas is your source of damage, just like the damage I did to Afghanistan when I exploded innocent civilians.” The crowd had devolved into a frenzy of excitement, wildly jumping up and down. They were chanting “Obama,” “2016,” and “Repeal the 22nd.” The reign of Barack Obama had just begun.
Somehow still around, somewhat

Looks like the deck can work, right?
Right?
RiGhT?

Unfortunately, it shouldn't take a genius to realize the deck is pretty unbalanced. With a mere 4 light pends backing it up, being able to cast Miracle is indeed quite the miracle, pun intended. Also, between the Eternities and Ghosts, there aren't enough sources of Time quanta. It shouldn't need too much explanation that it's going to overflow in Fire quanta (since it only needs 15 :fire to play all the bottles, and extra quanta doesn't help Rage Potion's CC power), too

Spoiler for why the fcku so much yellow?:
And before you're asking why the f*** there's so much yellow in an Indonesia-based deck, I'll tell ya that Suharto was backed by Partai Golkar (Partai Golongan Karya, Party of Functional Groups), which logo was (and still is) dominantly yellow.

Golkar starts out as a group of NGOs known as Sekber Golkar (Sekretaris Bersama Golongan Karya, Joint Secretary of Functional Groups) by late-Sukarno era.

And then there was Suharto, asking his men to transform Sekber Golkar into a political machine we know as Golkar.

After Suharto used Golkar to win 1971 legislative election and reinstated as president after winning the 1973 presidential election, he practically used Golkar to secure his position as the ruler, from the decent ways like distributing Golkar shirts to the grassroot level folks, the questionable ways like passing rule that other political parties have to fuse into either PDI (Partai Demokrasi Indonesia, Indonesian Democratic Party) and PPP (Partai Persatuan Pembangunan, United Development Party) as puppet competition, passing rules that state employees must affiliate themselves to Golkar, to the ugly ways like using force of arms and thugs to eliminate political competition and dissident voices (not that hard, since Golkar also had a good ties with the military; after all, Suharto used to be in the military before his first presidential term that started at 1968), until securing himself a very powerful position in Golkar (to the extent that the final say was still his even if the day-to-day operation's in some else's commando).

And then, the 1997-1998 Reformation.

After the forces of arms and thugs failed to contain the built-up pressure of political opposition, a sudden Asian economical crisis, and people's riots, eventually Suharto retired from presidency in May 1998.

What the cards represents:
Ghosts: This represents two things, actually. Early in the era, Suharto uses PKI (Partai Komunis Indonesia, Indonesian Communist Party) revolt in 1965 as a 'legitimation' to wipe all kinds of people that have any relations with PKI. Later, this embodies the forces of arms and thugs.
Eternity: What he wants from securing all those posts, ultimately, is to prolong his rule.
Miracle: Two things here, too. One, if it wasn't for all his screwing the political system to favor Golkar, his rule of 32 years would be miraculous. Two, I must admit that during his era, Indonesia had a pretty stable and good economy.
Rage Potion: Ditto with the Ghosts, the purging forces.

There's another twist to the deck, though.

Without RPs and Miracle (and quite possibly Time mark), the deck would be a bit smoother, ne?

It took the Asian economical crisis (read: Miracle, if you can call that a miracle) and a nubmer of riots across the archipelago (read: Rage Potion) to topple his reign (read: the deck).
