NOTES:
A take on growth.

Name suggestions are appreciated.

Charges can be seen in one of the corners of the creature image, I don't really care.

Charges do not affect the actual attack upon using Release (i.e. attack value stays the same unlike Sky Blitz or Dive), think like the Other weapons with the mark specified on the cards.

May be overpowered, who knows.

Seems underpowered to me, but my maths could be wrong.

Spoiler for maths:
Say you leave it for 10 turns, then release on the 11th turn. It does 14 damage. Then gets reset back to 4.
10x4 + 14 = 54 damage. 4.9 per turn on average.

Say you leave it for one turn then release on the second, letting it do 5 damage.
4 + 5 = 9 damage. 4.5 per turn on average.

Turn releasedTotal damageAverage DMG per turn
144 / 1 = 4
24 + 5 = 99 / 2 = 4.5
34 + 4 + 6 = 1414 / 3 = 4.66
44 + 4 + 4 + 7 = 1919 / 4 = 4.75
x4*(x-1) + (x+3)[4*(x-1) + (x+3)] / x

[4*(x-1) + (x+3)] / x = (4x-4 + x+3) / x = (5x -1) / x

The formula to calculate the average damage per turn is f(x) = (5x -1) / x where x is the number of the turn on which Zen's charge is released.

The graph of this function is y = (5x -1) / x :

Substituting x=∞ into the function gives f(x) = 5.

Zen's average attack per turn will never be greater than 5, assuming no buffs. In fact it will always be less than 5.

This is not overpowered.

Perhaps I should switch stats to 4 :light for 4 | 4? Or maybe 5 :light for 5 | 5?

No, that won't solve the issue - so long as the average damage is a formula with x on the bottom (which it will be, because it's an average), the problem will persist. A Zen with 5 | 5 won't have an average damage of more than 6.

A permanent solution would be to remove the x in the denominator, by putting an x2 in the numerator. An easier but temporary solution would be to have the charges increase by 2 each turn.

I would say lower Zen to 2 or 3 ATK, increase the cost of the ability to maybe 3 or 4 :light, and have the charges increase by 2 each turn.

I agree with clean onion.
It seems very underpowered compared with various inflatables and also with poison based creatures.
