Oty wouldn't be able to do anything with this, currently. Flying Weapon would immediately trigger the effect, meaning it would never be a creature.
Flying weapon targets the weapon slot, not the weapon itself, otherwise morningstar couldn't be ever animated because of immaterial.
Anything that would target the weapon itself, not the weapon slot, will destroy Sword of Damocles and deal damage to the player controlling it.
With the description you made for now, flying weapon would actually work with this card.
There are other mechanics that are spread through different elements, and there's really no reason that, if it fits thematically, shouldn't cross over. For instance. direct damage already exists in Fire, Darkness, Water, & Air. In addition, there are currently active ideas that do direct damage in both Entropy and Death that I can think of just off the top of my head. Plus, Light is kind of lacking on how it can hurt the opponent. Right now, all it can do is heal and do a bit of creature damage. No poison, no direct damage, no hard or soft CC (with the possible exception of Holy Flash), no hard or soft PC, no quanta denial...if one accepts the notion that Light can only heal, defend, and use creatures, then they will continue to be behind in balance compared to the other elements. I'd like to see other winning Light strategies than RoL/Hope.
To my post, where I said, I would dislike direct damage in light: Well... I simply dislike the mechanic as put here. If you had a spell which which would be like a beam of pure light or a creature that punishes creatures for their sins, I wouldn't mind that. But giving your opponent some "corrupted" weapon, which replaces any weapon in use and is more harmful than benificial to its owner, seems like a mechanic more suitable for darkness (or maybe death).
