@Hyroen
1) Obviously it needs some positive effect. (I had initially mistaken it for a creature) Since it is a permanent, you might want to strengthen the positive effect. Maybe even 1 :fire per turn.

2) Explosions usually do not affect Nightfall. EtG is the exception. Whether this 4th effect is too much or not is debatable.

I actually really like the idea of something that spreads (with painful consequences) in response to spell casting, particularly CC or PC type spells. It makes for an interesting soft counter... the only downside here is that it is limited to fire / water spells only, so some members may consider that a form of "elemental hate"... As a broadened effect, it could be quite interesting.

Personally I would never use this card...
I have to pay to play it and then unless I splash water I'm stuck taking 2 damage per turn.
On top of that it has a 60% chance to duplicate itself each turn, which may very well add another to my side of the field and damage me more.
Turn after that.. another 60% chance from both to generate a copy which may or may not be on my side and damage me more.

The deviation in effect possibilities here is way too high for this card to be used reliably...
Best case scenario- I play it, it duplicates to my opponent, I hit myself with a water card, the opponent's duplicates stay on their side, I'm a happy camper.
Worst case scenario - I don't have water splashed in, my opponent doesn't use water, every damn copy stays on my side of the field and eventually I take lethal damage each turn with no permanent slots...

Yeah, like a real fire: Unpredictable to a certain degree :) If you got two or three bonds and some creatures, e.g., you might be able to afford it (and use the extra fire quanta generated for your own benefit, like Deflag or Fire Bolt the opponent).

Important question: Would mirror shields reflect the damage this does? What about other shield types?

If shields can provide absorption / damage mitigation then this could be interesting in, say, a RoL-Hope deck.

I'd say that thematically speaking, shields shouldn't protect you much if you're burning alive, however it's really up to what people think.

I'd rather it be no, purely from a thematic perspective.
