Very interesting card which is very well thought. But i don't understand why this card is earth ?

Maybe combo with basilisk, by basilisking another creature inorder to kill the remaining one ?

Answered your own question? :)

Either way, its not dead set on Weak Link, but it is a physical name and Earth is a physical element, so I thought Earth first.
