Perhaps as an additional benefit that would fit the theme, you could add something like 'reduces spell damage by a certain amount'.  The idea would be that the guy on the watchtower shouts "HEADS UP!!!! FIREBALL!!!!!!" or whatever :p  It wouldn't do a lot to have -1 or -2 to spell damage, but it would add some theme to the card, and make it a little better.  It is a cool card as is, but I'm not sure how much use it would actually see without something else on it.

I haven't uploaded a picture yet, but i have one in mind that is a stone tower. Its also a defensive type structure to defend land. In addition it doesn't particularly fit any other element, except maybe perhaps :gravity with its martial theme.

As for the "heads up fireball". thats not a bad idea. Maybe a chance for creatures to dodge spell damage. something defensive like that. I definitely do think it does need a secondary ability.

Definantly either needs a secondary effect or a major cost decrease, way to expensive for just a little "heads up"

Why not the whole hand?
For a secondary ability... all creatures gain +0|+1? All creatures get 1 less damage from CC? Just some random thoughts.

Why not the whole hand?
And how do you technically see incoming spells? Creatures make more sense.

It all depends on how you look at it, I guess. If the watchtower is looking into the distance, then creatures can naturally be seen. I get that.

I guess an explanation for spells could refer to instructions/incantations/prerequisites to cast the spell, seen by the watchtower as the enemy prepares to make the necessary changes to its assault.

Admittedly, creatures only does make sense. However, watchtowers cant see burrowed things, either. Nor could they miss large structures like 'sanctuary' or 'titan'. Why are permanents excluded?

What is your thematic view of the watchtower?

Thematically, I think it should be creatures and permanents - the large ones. But going for size is probably getting too picky. Can you really see a tiny hourglass?

Assuming we have magical radar, yes. I'd say creatures and permanents is fine as to keep coding simple.

IMHO, this card is underpowered because it's so situational - sure you can predict what creatures your opponent will play, but I don't think that's worth 5 :earth (contrast Precog - chances are 1 turn of viewing is all you need and you draw a card.) I'd suggest one of the the following:

A
Give it "Generate :earth each turn." and lower cost to 4 | 3.

Or

B
Lower cost to 3 :earth | 3 :rainbow .

I'm really liking opt B.
I've long felt this game could use another "upgrade to random quanta usage" card.

This reminds me a bit of precognition really, so perhaps make this a permanent that can cast precognition with 3 :time per turn?
