ART: No art yet; I'll make one later. IDEA: Bloodshadow NOTES: The "" symbol does NOT denote a new element. Instead, that symbol means that when the card is played, your opponent gains that amount of quanta matching his or her Mark. I am using this symbol because there isn't enough space to put all this text in the card description. This card is a part of my Void series. Using Void cards give your opponent quanta, while Void Pillars take those quanta away. Both the Pillars and other Void cards can be put into normal decks, or they can be used together in a Mono-Void deck. This will be the alchemy card for Void. Clear Nymph | Void Nymph (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,21512.0.html) has this as an active ability. It works on both creatures and permanents. For the regular version, nothing happens if your opponent runs out of quanta. However, for the upgraded version, the card is destroyed when your opponent runs out of quanta. it's interesting; it has to be paired with Pest or Black Hole for any detrimental effects though, if we're comparing it to reals cards XP

The nymph is going to be much more powerful than this card. Multiple uses of this ability will not only drain all quanta but also destroy creatures.

But is the card itself UP? I changed the cost from 4/3 to 3/2 just in case.

Also, with the Void Nymph, the ability should probably cost higher than this spell.

I am having problems judging the balance of these cards mostly because I do not have an to (or better yet to  [used here to denote elemental quanta]) conversion function.

I suspect that for most values X < X < X

Mostly because costs have a casting cost of 0 when determining speed.

I think this has a decent starting balance subject to playtesting. The nymph should have weak stats and 4+ activation cost IMHO.

Well, there's no reason to consider that your own quanta is worth more than the ennemy's. However, it's possible that the ennemy will not be able to use all of this quanta, giving you a decisive advantage. And the more void quanta you use, the more likely this is.

Due to speed alone giving the enemy quanta is cheaper then using quanta of your own.

I changed the card a bit. Now this works on both creatures and permanents, and it's stackable (i.e. two Void Distillates on a creature will absorb 2 quanta per turn).

For the upgraded version, the quanta absorption is now an upkeep. This means that if your opponent runs out of quanta, all cards with the Void status effect are destroyed instantly. I increased its cost to 5.

For Clear Nymph | Void Nymph, the Clear and Void abilities cost 4 and 6 respectively. The Nymphs themselves probably cost 11 and 13.

Absorb always means upkeep.
13 is probably too high of a casting cost. That is what a nymph would cost. 10 or 11 sounds more appropriate.

Okay then, I changed it from "absorb" to "destroy". The unupped version can't kill anything.

Essentially, all Void cards can be considered "free" cards, since there is, in fact, no restriction to playing them from your hand or using their abilities. If that is so, I suggest a 1.5-3X multiplier to any balancing costs, since 3 is equivalent to a single elemental quanta, and the opponent will be getting random quanta. 1.5 because you're paying half of its value to play it without any restrictions, while it could be argued that it should be 3 so that the opponent will be competitively kept on the same track as you, since this would essentially be a rush deck strategy.
