this is turning out to be a very complex card

The problem is that there is a limit to how one can combine the existing mechanics to create new and interesting ones... Complexity is generally more interesting, although not always..

Funny, interesting new mechanic! Also, what would happen with

1) Chimera?
2) TU on a stacked totem?
3) Charged fire lance/ice bolt? More bolts would suggest destroying all the totem's layers..
4) Mutation?

1) nothing new, defense should be cumulative then
2) maybe there should be a stack limit then? probably 15 or 20. if the stack is TUed before the limit is reached, the stack which attacks first would get the next totem.
3) if i remember correctly, i think you can overkill a single creature with a bolt?
4) mutates the top and, losing its skill, moves over?

I think such a large quantity of specifical situations would require an equally large amount of coding... :/

lol I ran late here, I was thinking over the past while about a creature that "layered" or "stacked" itself, but I had problems coming up with a good theme.  All i could think of was layered cake lol.  Funny.

Anyways I think totem was an ace idea for this mechanic.  I think there are a bunch of potential functions for a new "stack" ability.  Keep it up

after the first few comments, i knew my cards mechanics needed to be more fine tuned haha i saw emeraldtiger's take on stacking with his piranhas (after a certain amount of one card is set out, the cards turn into one), and thought that was interesting, but then the defense would be cumulative...

however, i've been rethinking how this creature's going to work: i think it'll be easier if it were either a stacking permanent or stacking weapon which, if animated, splits into its different parts?

Well, now this card is just annoying. Are you saying that if I play Mitosis, then use it, it'll just get covered up, and I can't use mitosis again till the top one dies? That ruins a large part of the stacking ability for this guy!
