Yes, but if something dies, why is no death effect generated?

The only reason no death effect is generated would be because nothing dies.

But if nothing dies, why would this card be a Death card?

it's not the target who dies, but his "ancestors". Yeah, tricky. (love your avatar btw)

Isn't it more like that same creature dying as a "child", kind of like sending the Terminator back in time to kill the teenage John Connor?

If the creature dies in the past, no death effects are of course triggered in the current time, because the creature never even existed in current time.

Yep, time travel is fun. :)

Why I don´t want to see this creature implemented:
-Discard creatures is quite similar to an instant kill card, which kills creatures regardless of HP. This kind of card shall not exist. (Freeze + Shockwave is a duo 2 card combo)
Here, the creatures are killed, before they are even on the field, the Assasin is very cheap, used en masse, they are probably quite unstoppable.
- I still like the idea of a "save hand", and the card is quite unfun for me.
I`m teffy, here - and Ringat on Kongregate

Huh, never knew why I didn't like the idea until now... So yeah, and you can even insta-kill immortal creatures, since they aren't immortal in your hand. Not to mention its synergy with RT and the fact that it's quite cheap.

Instant kill cards are powerful because you can instantly kill a creature that your opponent paid tons of quanta to play. So not only do you lose a card, you also lose quanta. But if the card is only discarded, it's not THAT bad really, unless you are able to do tons of it early in the match. This ability becomes less effective as the match goes along because the opponent can just play creature cards as they are drawn, unless it's paired up with Reverse Time or something, which would make it slightly more powerful but still, I don't see how it would be super OP.

Hmm.. I would probably make a big change and make this a Spell. This way you could do a 1-on-1 switch where you both lose a card. You might get lucky and be able to remove key cards, or you might get unlucky and have an opponent that doesn't use creatures are all (you would still see his or her hand so it wouldn't be a total waste).

why not have the time traveling assasin get "lost" in time after you kill a creature. that way its a one for one trade. or a chance that it cant find its way to the present time. time travel is difficult. You could make it so that the time traveler gets stuck in a time bubble for the turn after a kill of something so that it is not OP.

hhhhaaaawwwwesome... name might need some love though :P :P

>or just make it so you don't see cards in hand? which kinda balances the forced discard into you have no idea which creature should be discarded? you can only target creatures (red cross hair on creature cards)
this'd make a 2-card combo for a discard (precog + this), and one is a creature..

>or make it not able to use its ability uncloaked? or not? << this makes it either balanced, or waaaay UP unless stats are changed

and SG and darkrobe has pretty sweet ideas, imho  ^-^
