Right, so this is one of my two (similar in original concept) entries for the CCC competition for soft  :life CC.

My thought process thus far:
When thinking of  :life I thought I could come up with a mechanic which was effected by the HP (i.e. life!) of a creature.
I wanted to create a CC mechanic which effected larger creatures more than smaller (soft CC?)
I got some data on the HP of creatures in the game which you can find here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,20857.new.html#new)
In fairness, this probably didn't lead to much, but is perhaps valuable in the fine tuning of these two cards.
I then thought of the name "Thicket" - small creatures can get through the thicket easier than larger creatures.
Then created the two versions using this idea, one is a spell, the other a permanent.

NOTES:
how long a creature is trapped depends on it's HP  (small creatures get out of thicket easier kinda thing)
trapped creatures have the 'time bubble' effect on them:
creatures with 0,1,2 HP = too small to be trapped.
creatures with 3,4,5 HP = 1 round of being trapped.
creatures with 6,7,8,9,10 HP = 2 rounds of being trapped.
creatures with more than 10 HP = 3 rounds of being trapped.

This is a good idea and even has enough merit to coexist with your thicket permanent like permafrost and freeze.

Good point! I think this one is more complete at the moment, but do like both variations  :)

I think another thing this card could do is that a thicketed creature cannot be catapulted (because it is stuck to the ground).  However, that might be too much of an attack on gravity.

If you feel like the current version is still too unfair to gravity, you could have thicketed creatures do +1 damage when catapulted (because the brambles add mass, and are probably spiky.

You could actually combine this and thicket trap to make an Alternate Story (aka alternate upgrade) card!   ;D

I like the other version better, seeing as how it covers more creatures overall, but this seems fair too.

well, Basilisk blood will delay for six turns anyways.

This expands the usefulness of plate armour though.

I've no issues with that, as you know I like the alternative story! However, for the CCC comp I better leave them both like this for now....

I'm not sure it really is that mega anti-gravity...? Anything above 10HP is treated the same (to make sure it's not mega anti-gravity!!!)

The catapult thing is an interesting idea, although I don't think it should stop catapult as it creates all sorts of issues with targeting or not (eg. cannot be devoured because Oty can't get to the creature through the thicket...)
