Update: now the text field doesn't reduce font size anymore.
Does that mean we need to re-download one or more files?
You have to re-download only the template (the second file). Unless you're fine with it reducing the font.

Planplan's editor (left), Magic Set Editor (right):

It could be refined, but it's a decent alternative for those who like the better card management. Hopefully Planplan will see this and incorporate some of these features into his editor.

And you saved your image as JPEG instead of PNG.

Also, for everyone who downloaded the template before Xenocidius:
It was updated again. Now the permanent and spell icons are larger and better and the art credit field has a white outline instead of a shadow, as you can see in this card and in the new screenshot.

Hmm, I actually did. Do I need to restart or uninstall the program for it to work?

Oh, I dunno. I made the template, not the software.

You'll have to ask for support in the Magic Set Editor forums.

Hmph, my computer just doesn't seem to want to use these fonts. God, that's annoying. I guess I'll have to stick with Planplan's editor.

Still, good work on the template, and looks like it works very well.

"Note: I'm still working on making the background of the card change automatically according to the chosen element icon."

Not needed. Someone might want to create a card that costs Death quanta, but uses Other background.

Alright, I got it working.

Planplan's editor (left), Magic Set Editor (right)

There is definitely huge resemblance, but the difference is still there. A few more tweaks (namely, larger, fuzzier shadows and darker, larger shadows for card cost) and we've got a very decent card image builder.

While this tool looks dandy for making a multitude of cards, the aesthetic parts (text shadow mainly) to me are a bit distracting. If Planplan does do another code rework of the card image generator, or if you two decide to work together to incorporate these features, we can have both an internet friendly (flash-based: planplan's) and home-use (downloadable program: SevenSapiens) card image tools. :)

Well, the problem with the shadows is a limitation of Magic Set Editor, not my template's*. But I'm working on them anyway.

And it doesn't need to make the cards identical the ones of Planplan's editor (and as far as I can tell it's just impossible). It only has to make decent images, and I think already does.

Also I'm not trying to replace Planplan's editor, but just to give an alternative. Some people will prefer to use my template, some will not.

EDIT:
*Actually, it WAS a problem with my template, after all. I was reading the documentation of MSE when I found a description of a "shadow blur" property. I'm going to start editing my scripts as soon as I can.

Nice stuff, I thought of doing this with MSE before, but didn't feel like doing all the work you've done.  May the RNG goddess bless you!

It has been updated one more time. Now the shadows has blur, the shadow of the card's cost is darker, and the art credits field has now a "glow" effect (wich can be seen in the new screenshot). It also changes the card background automatically depending on the chosen element icon by default BUT the icon doesn't change when you choose a background.

And I'm not going to update it again anytime soon. It seems perfect to me now.
Take a look:

Left: Planplan's editor. Right: My MSE template.
