Reason against variable costs:
Card costs have an (integer, type) format. The hand GUI highlights cards that can be played.
So there is no code yet to constantly modify card costs and such code would also require code constantly refreshing the card costs and available cards in the hand GUI.

Note:
I do not remember Zanz commenting on this issue.

sorry, i remembered somebody mentioning that cards cant have a variable cost. i could be wrong though.

It was probably me. Probably something like "The current code can't support variable casting costs".
