Nice concept. Maybe for the upgraded version it could have 3 HP punishment instead of 2.
With evanescent do you mean if targeted by the opponent or if targeted by anyone?
Also, does the damage stack? If it does, then this fractalled could be a great pain...
For further evilness, I'd add a Pulveriser.

Evanescent is activated when it is targeted by any spell or effect. I added it to prevent fractal/mitosis abuse.

You mean let it make 3 damage instead of just harming your opponent or in addition?

Evanescence, I think, would not prevent Fractal abuse (it would do the job with Mitosis, but not with Fractal).
Because it would die, but the copies would still appear in the hand.
I meant that the upgraded version could deal 3 damage when the opponent plays a permanent.
However, I suggest that you listen to others' opinions, too; I don't have too much experience. But I think the concept is essentially very interesting, even is somewhat similar to Neurotoxin.

I don't know how the targeting system is programmed but in my opinion you first have to target something BEFORE any effects can occur. So you target this creature it vanishes and then the effect would take place. But there is no creature now.

I think that might be to much for an upgrade. But we will see what others say. Thanks for feedback. =)

Youve got the ability text the wrong way round in the table if the cards are right. Definitely a different idea, but think its a little UP just now  :)

This is a cool card.  The obvious comparison would be with Dune Scorpion.  It deals less damage than the scorpion, but on the plus side, you don't need a chaos power or unstoppable or something to actually get it to work.  I think maybe the upgraded one should cost 1 or 2 more  :earth to play, though, because its ability is considerably stronger once it is one sided like the upgrade.  If you did that, you could also buff the stats on the upgraded one to 3/7 or something.

For something that can be killed by *anything* targeting it though, I was actually thinking that the casting cost should be lowered.

Edit: Also, question, would AoE type spells kill this off, since it's not targeted specifically?

I think the upped doesn't give enough reason for you to upgrade it. Yes it'd be nice to not hurt yourself, but most likely, you'll have already planned for that, so I think the upped needs a buff, maybe plus one attack? maybe even +1|1?

Thx will fix this

Well, quinted creatures (that are untargetable) will ignore aoe-spells. So I think it will affect Evanescent

Thx for all the feedback. Maybe I should change the upgraded version a bit. I will do this this evening.

I dislike the evanescence thing. There is no need of it to avoid fractal abuse. Cost of the card already does that. A deck that specialize in using this shouldnt have anything beyond the creature, Fractal, and a lot of pillars (maybe a shield or weapon), and so would be vulnerable.

I also think the upped should maintain the unupped skill. Everyone taking damage while playing permanentes is more strategical and interesting than "anyone plays permanent, opponent takes damage". It would also make unnecessary these balance issues like evanescence. In fact, as it is now, upped form simply kill the unupped one.

I also think there should be another name for the card (spirits we have have some type of growth) and the skill. Earth revenge, really? What bad permanents did to earth so it would like a revenge? lol.
