I am confused about why the upgraded costs more than the unupped. (3->5 hp is negligible cost wise)
because to make this card more effective, there has to be multiple of them on field, and since there would be many, increasing their defense in upped vers. would be essential against CC cards such as rain of fire, shock wave, Owl´s eye, etc.
which is why cost is increased.
also it discourages fractalling.
The health increase was/is not worth 2.5 quanta (current cost)
5|4 casting cost should be fine because
1) It is Aether and fractal Aether is hard to pull off.
2) It is inefficient if not combined with Immortals, Fractal or Twin Universe
i see your point, immortals are very expensive and what i did wasn´t too different, I believe that Immortals are expensive for one obvious reason: They are immaterial.
since the Templars are "Targetable", their expense should be more considerably fair than the Immortals, aswell as making it easier to pull off better combos with the cards you mentioned, im pretty surprised how i didn´t take that into consideration, since i didn´t want to maek it too easy, but since they are targetable, and its only while Templar is in play, meaning if they die, the Immortals lose the attack.
