I would be OK with this card being PU + mutation, instead of instakill + mutation. That is, if you can target a creature, you can create a mutant/abomination. The increased cost compared with mutation could compensate for not needing to use fodder. This way, you sacrifice speed to save deck space.

It's instant kill plus Mutate on a photon.
That's it. What you target has no bearing on what you receive.

Oh yeah, you opponent will just have a random photon sitting there... The only decks that use Photon are ImmoBow (Which kills photons the turn they're played) and Fractal Ray of Light... Photons are NOT very popular, therefore your statement is inaccurate.

it's not about the photon. It's true for any creature.

This is worse than an instant-kill card (unless the opponent happens to have antimatter/sosac).
You create a mutant as well.
Another way to create such a mutant is by mutating a creature, for example a photon.

Currently, this card is instantly using 4 cards:
freeze, shockwave, [creature], mutation.

I can see your contempt, but the fact that Mutation has a chance of killing the monster is a big factor. A lot of decks run SoSac and antimatter! Those are 2 of the most common CC.

I would never use this as it could easily shoot backwards and not even steal one of my creatures, but give a mutant to my opponent. I'd stick to Fallen Druid instead.

This is exactly why I created the card in this manner, it equals it out and isn't too broken.

You are correct in assuming you can target the creature. The wording I used on the card isn't too confusing and I'm too lazy to switch the card wording for something that isn't that critical.

Let's say your opponent uses an antimatter on your Ivory Dragon, you wouldn't want that antimattered monster clogging up your space so you use TE on it to get rid of it. It's less insta kill than the Bolts.

If the point is insta killing your creatures, cremation does the job better. No extra creature to deal with and you even get quanta out of the deal. Of course, that's not why people use cremation. In the situation you described, mutation alone does the job better (it is also a card that goes well with this one), that's why my suggestion focused in preventing instakilling opponent creatures.

I see your point, but this isn't nearly as outlandish as the Root of Life card, yet this is getting so much opposition! The card's cost is enough of a balance! Should the text read "Remove the rest of your quanta?

The costs are fine honestly. The Unnuped may  be bumped down to 6, but the upped is guarenteeing a better monster, so It's staying as is for now. I know I have a low rating, but honestly, this is a good card idea!
