Lol, a catchall Luciferin? I love how many :aether cards are being made in this competition :D

I actually like it a lot. I don't know whether it's overpowered because only playtesting can tell, but I really like the idea. To be safe, I'd like to see its initial cost bumped up 1 more :aether in both the upped and unupped versions.

Otherwise, great idea and lovely work on this. :)

I think its OP. If you have an aether creature in play, then it is self sustaining. And is this stackable? If so, DEFINITELY OP. This can just generate WAY too much quanta. Perhaps it needs a cap of 1 per element, or a max amount of quantum it can generate a single turn. btw, i like the idea, I just have a feeling it will be too hard to make it balanced.

Actually, I had envisioned the maintenance quanta would be consumed first, then the creature quanta generated last.

The obvious remedies would be:
1) destroy/steal this permanent
2) kill/rewind aether creature*
3) drain quanta (e.g., pest, black hole)

*Yes, there are immaterial aether creatures but they are expensive: immortals = 6(7) and dragons 13(14).  That wouldn't make for a very speedy deck.  Sparks wouldn't work because they die right away.  Phase spiders/recluses are the best bet for early play but are targetable. 

Let's say you're playing a rainbow deck: how many rounds/cards do you need to get your "OP quanta factory" running?
A) 3 :aether for upped telepathy + 3 :aether for the spider = 6 quanta and 2 cards but creature targetable.
b) 3 :aether telepathy + 3 :aether for spider + 3 :aether for quint = 9  :aether quanta and 3 cards.  Permanent still targetable.
C) 3 :aether telepathy + 3 :aether for spider + 3 :aether quint +1 :earth PA = 9 :aether 1 :earth and 4 cards.  That's a lot of work to generate 1 :aether/turn in return.  In order to maximize the payback for this card, you have to play lots of creatures and you only get 6 quints in a deck so creature control and/or permanent control are still effective.

This may be more powerful in a duo deck, though I haven't thought of all the possibilities.  Of course, I'd be happy to hear any comments you have about how to better balance the card.

Make it cost at least 3 :aether to keep running. Otherwise this strong card is easy to keep going.
And my strategy for getting it going
1 spark, plus 1 heavy armor. Nice and simple. Most rainbow decks try to keep the quints as the only thing that requires  :aether so getting the aether wouldnt be too hard at all. 1 :aether is simple to get to keep this card running. 4 Towers give 12 quanta, so by the time you have 4, you have a good chance to keep it running.

I'm wondering if  :aether :aether :aether is asking too much--maybe 2 :aether is more reasonable.

How many turns would it take to draw all 3 (spark + armor + telepathy) plus the 4 towers to support 3 :aether /turn?  I guess it'd depend on deck size and how many of each card you'd put in it.  But at that point, if you're adding multiple sparks/armors/telepathies into a deck, it'd radically change the rainbow deck composition from what has become standard.  I guess that could be good or bad to add some innovation into the game.  (<--Isn't that the point of these competitions anyway?)  And BTW while you've been monkeying around getting this system up and running, you're opponent is trying to kill you.

Also, since Eternity seems to be around every corner, your spark would be sent back to the deck and without an armor to support it next time around.  Or Butterfly Effect eliminates the Telepathy directly.  Or explosion. Or steal.  I guess what I'm driving at is Telepathy offers something desirable (otherwise it wouldn't be worth placing in your deck) but has so many vulnerabilities that it doesn't deserve all the OP attention it seems to be getting.

Is 2 :aether per turn reasonable?

I would definitly consider that more reasonable. This cards true power comes with weak cards like the brimstone eater so that it can make 2 fire a turn instead of one, makeing it a lot easier to get a strong fire lance. Before changing it to 2 though, id wait for other suggestions, perhaps im the only 1 that thinks its OP as it is. no point in weakening a card if it isnt necessary.

That's a pretty good idea- running a lance deck with eaters and mark of aether.  Maybe some aether towers/fractal as well, although I don't know when this card needs to consume its 1 :aether to stay alive so not sure if it would work at all with Fractal.  Potential to gain 46 a turn from creatures alone though is scary.

Wow, this would look scary if a Fractal Pest deck or Decay used it. I like the effect, but it seems like the most that would benefit out of it are Fractal decks; especially Hope decks. Pretty much those creatures will generate the required Quanta for you to summon even more when you Fractal again. I think it's too strong as it is right now, especially as an Aether card. But, if you keep it in Aether, you should at least make the upkeep cost more Aether Quanta or Aether and Entropy Quanta, something that would balance having it on the field. But, even then, you would still get one turn of it's effect if it's destroyed. There's a lot of things that I can think of that could be done with this card, it's scary. Pillarless decks, a new Nymphomania deck, Rainbow decks, Burn decks..

It COULD be used with fractal, REGARDLESS of when it is effected (although, my best bet would be that it happens when the creature attacks, just like feral bond does). This is why. If you have a deck that relies on this card for quanta production, but also uses fractal, all you would have to do is just have an aether tower or 2 in your hand, and then fractal, and use 2 aether towers. Youre set on quanta now for this turn, and the turns following.
