What's the thematic sense of the tapeworm respawning upon death?
I believe that this would probably be more powerful if it could target players as well. Would basically allow you to use buffs as CC.
It would also create a very powerful synergy with Shard of Patience. 6x Tapeworm (Not hard to summon) + Shard of Patience for one turn + Target Player = 4 Poison Damage x 6 = 24 poison damage. Would be a powerful combo and would add some new decks into the metagame of elements. Call it the Patient Worms or the Tape of Patience.

It was a little unclear, I'll admit.
To keep it thematically different from a virus, it has to maintain its creature only targeting. Besides, the ability to turn any buff into poison instantly seems pretty darn good if it can hit players, as you yourself mention.

EDIT: Ignore everything I just said. I must have seriously misunderstood something in the card description and made an entire post about it. Epic derp. Apologies.
EDIT2: I was right the first time, and to summarize what I said before I deleted it, its a bit too powerful if it increases in attack each time but still spawns on your side of the field. My original suggestion was that the Tapeworm should spawn on the side of the field of the creature it killed, to make it more of a double edged card, and add more depth to the strategy instead of just repeatable, growing virus.

Where are you seeing this incrementation? It's a 2|1 that can poison for 2 and the target's owner gets a copy of the 2|1 on said target's death.
Note that the upped will oftentimes be worse since it can be more easily used by opponents.

Or well, it can be a buff to Parasite so it doesn't overshadow it.

i don't like how it completely overshadows unupped virus, an already unused card.

@Bossitron: Virus is unused because it is almost useless. Retrovirus, on the other hand, is what most people use.
