For clarification (I think I understand this after careful reading, let me know if I've got it right)

-You can use this card on any light card or any card that matches the element of your mark
-You can pay the casting cost of any nonzero cost card (if it is of light or your mark's element) to make it immaterial

-I'm also assuming that you can only use this once per turn
-Does this card actually use the shield slot, or is shield merely part of the name and it occupies the permanent row (ex: like feral bond)
