Why do all those creatures have two abilities?

Multiple non-passive abilities just make gameplay slower and require a change in game code (how to choose which one to active?)

It's better to have many different cards than to make cards just more complex.

For one, I program in Java, and I don't think it would be too hard to enable multiple abilities. Then again, this is Flash, so I'm not sure how hard it would be. I still don't think it would be TOO hard.

And if it's a problem, then just make Flood cost 3 water (you still gain 3), and reverse photosynthesis cost 2 life (but make the skill actually only make 1 light, so it has the same effect). The cards aren't TOO complex.

It's not that it's too difficult to code. If you look at elements you can see that Zanz has some serious flash coding skills and I'm sure it would be easy from him.

The problem is that having more then one non-passive ability, means more clicking and slower gameplay. Every time you click a creature, some kind of pop-up window would open and you would have to click AGAIN.

Important question is WHY would we need 2 abilities? Why not just more cards with one ability? It's working pretty well and I feel no need for it to change.

I agree with Scaredgirl. That's a ton of different card ideas generated out of one card concept, so why not just make them different cards altogether and keep it simple? Simplicity of design and gameplay are what makes players come back.

Actually plants need water + light (sunlight). What they PRODUCE is Air (oxygen).

But if they needed water + light to grow, that would force you to play trio-deck or rainbow which is not so good imo.

Life already has Forest Spirit who grows with water. It also has Rustler who uses light. Hm..that could actually kill this idea. :(
They need water and carbon dioxide to grow. Light just gives them the energy to change CO2 into O2 and the carbon that actually is used to get larger. The only thing they need earth for is so their roots can hold up the rest of the plant- and that's where they absorb the water from (and other trace minerals).

In fact, plants don't need dirt to grow at all:

I just want to point out that Sundial, the staple of rainbow decks (including yours) has two abilities, one passive and one clicked on. So I've decided to change the abilities a little bit:

Earth Tree
Ability: Erosion(?): At the end of every one of your turns, two water quantums (one opponents', one yours) is changed into two earth quantums (both for you).
Ability: Plant (cost: 3 life): Make a seed.

Heavenly Tree
Ability: Sunlight (cost: 4 light quantum): Upgrade one seed, plant, or tree.
Ability: Reverse Photosynthesis: Converts two of your life quantum into two light quantum at the end of your turn.

This makes it mandatory that you lose two life and one water quantum at the end of every turn but gain earth and light, so it will factor in to strategy more, but I think it would work :p.

Sunlight and water are the two main things plants needs to grow, so if you need to choose two elements from this game, it's not a very difficult choice. :)

i think all the ideas are cool, but how about it takes either one light or one water (randomly) to grow, and we should just stick with finale's original idea, even though puppychow's are good, they would make it a bit too complicated in gameplay, and if the sunlight ability worked, then you should only need light to
evolve them, maybe even time if everything else makes it too complicated, its not like a plant grows into a tree in an hour  :P
I ask nothing of humanity but fairness in all things, but I do not expect even that.

Yep. Look at the picture I posted earlier. I didn't know plants need so many things to grow.

But like I said, water and sunlight are the 2 main things a plant needs. And if you have to choose 2 elements from this game, most logical choices are Water and Light. This is actually what Zanz chose also with Forest Spirit and Rustler. I don't know how anyone could logically choose any other elements.

I don't see Air element as "oxygen". I see it more like "Things that fly up in the air". But that's debatable.

I didn't say they don't need light- though I will admit my wording was a bit unclear.
