Needs cost increase. Should cost about 5 :gravity for upped.
True. DR costs about 3, and upgrading it removes the DR debt by 1... so a cost of 4 or 5 works.

Why, yes. I do have a Mindgate necklace. It's how I ninja everyone.

Had an idea to improve this.  Instead of DR, it should have X% chance to give creatures momentum.  That would probably also come with a cost increase.

You still haven't answered why steel would block momentum. xD

The hardest known metal is an alloy of Carbon Steel (http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-hardest-metal.htm), so I can see where the analogy attempts to come from - the hardest metal would have the most resistance to momentum.

However to truly stop a fast moving object in real life you would probably use waves of force or make it go in something that would slow it down. (Like rough terrain).

Would this help in any way? IMHO if we tried to make this the Air shield it might be interesting as Sound Waves are technically under air.

The question isn't so much what would stop momentum as do we want a "block unblockables" shield and if we do what reason could we create that would explain why the best attackers would be the worst?

Also just for clarification: What is the intended effect on ETG for this card?

The answer to that is a gravity shield for attack instead of HP.  But, since this is a rare shield series, I am trying to make concepts that haven't been made already, which a concept like gravity shield has.

So your goal is a shield that makes the strongest blows weaker than the weakest blows? (or make the weakest blows stronger than the strongest blows depending on the perspective.)

I would prefer to avoid an unblockable, block unblockable, true unblockable, block true unblockable precedent.
Why not make it so the the shield blocks all damage but deals the user X damage per attack? [X=4|3?]

This shouldn't be gravity it shouldn't have an element. Good card either way.

I was digging down the forum and found this post actually pretty interesting and decide to bump in and contribute a little. Considering momentum actually helps bumping through walls, instead of thinking about materials that is harder than diamond, the card can be named as "Spear wall" or something like that, just like spear formation is a counter to calvary (momentum-dependent) in mediaval time

The problems with this idea are:
1) It blocks unblockables (like targeting untargetable or drowninging undrownables)
2) It lets the less skilled at attacking creatures though but blocks the better attackers. This is a silly consequence.
