Diffrent pillars https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=6457.msg67149#msg67149

So i was thinking... Are their any ideas for pillars that supply a single quantum but from 2 or more possible elements? for example:
Steam Pillar: generate :fire OR :water
Holy::aether OR :light
Decay::death OR :life
Storm::aether OR :air
Void::entropy OR :gravity
Damned::darkness OR :death

or even more...
Terra: :earth OR :gravity OR :life

this could make dual(or more) element builds much more appealing/interesting but it would also be useful to narrow a rainbow decks quantum into a more focused area...

I don't think that this would throw the balance too much though it could be limited to 6 like other cards...

To verify: it would generate one of the possible quantums...
ya know like this kinda thing
Random, x, 1, 2
If x = 1
*generate* :fire
Else
*generate* :water

Yes, but that would require 144 cards to cover all the combinations - which is way too much.

I've suggested making twelve pillars that produce either the element they're from or the element of your mark (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5647.0.html). Which reminds me I'll need to make some art for that topic...

I second this idea. Obviously we wouldn't create one for every single combo, just 6, so that they all get one. I posted a thread about this yesterday, but mine allowed the player to switch it, at the price of 1 hp: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=6417.0

I think your idea works too, it is not strictly better than a normal pillar because the player cannot control it.

you could always pick a theme for it.. maybe only opposite types...
 :fire :water
 :earth :air
 :death :life
 :darkness :light
 :aether :gravity
 :entropy :time

or just do several common types and let folks create decks with them...

 :time :aether (like Anubis for instance)
 :air :life FFQ
 :earth :gravity the mace weapon whose name doth escape me
 :death :water poison...

*shrugs* many possibilities...

Agreed. I like the idea of
 :fire :water = Steam, but fire and water have no synergies. Maybe  :air :water could represent steam, because they already have some synergy.
Also, I think these would be limited to six, and not called pillars. ("totem") maybe?

These would upgrade the same way pillars upgrade to towers, right?

That's a good point with steam, I guess I wasn't paying attention...

I think making them separate and in a set could work well, although if they were 'totems' then maybe they could upgrade to produce one of each element each turn... after all if your limited then a bit more wiggle room exists... It just seems odd to make a set ('totems' for example) and have them function just like lands... erm pillars T.T ... maybe the elite form can be indestructible but other than that remain the same? ... hmmmmmm
