its a good idea, but theres too much discrepency between the two, isnt that just basically a preferance? whether for hp or attack?

Imo I like the upped one, its a good sync with condor + plague + Poison.

Could you post some decks that this would help out in?  Not many decks pack a lot of spells (other than firebolt spells, which usually try and pile the damage right in the end), so even if you use one spell card 6 times, you still only get a 7|1 creature for all of the quanta used.

Maybe you could boost the ability to add +2|0, or even +2|+1

It's meant to be a semi-vanilla creature with very low cost and a very minor skill. For the following competition:

Therefore it's ability must either be absent or not gamechanging to say the least. A 7|1 creature for the quanta used would be very stong (1 :death!), you can't add up the cost of the spells unless you count the effect of those spells aswell.
So the skill is meant to be weak, I will prolly change it to +1/+0 | +1/+1 though.

I think I would just boost the base stats of the upped one, as opposed to increasing the boost. Make it something like a 2|3. The boost in hp will be nice because it will also make it a bit more robust once you've played enough spells for it to be worthwhile.
