Kael Hate
NOTES:
- Clusters
- Limited to 6
- Designed to fill the role of random quanta production of a limited array
- "deck" in the card text refers to your starting deck, not the deck as it currently is during play.
- Calculation for production is worked by generating an array of of all the basic pillar and towers in your deck. Then when production is required randomly choosing a value from the array. (Detailed Function available on request)
- %chance for a quanta type is the number of basic pillars/towers of that element divided by the total number of basic pillars/towers in the deck at the start of play. Ie Deck has 10 basic pillars, 1 :light, 2 :time, 3 :entropy, 4 :aether then the percentage chances are 1/10 = 10% :light, 2/10 = 20% :time. 3/10 = 30% :entropy, 4/10 = 40% :aether.
- Produces nothing if your starting deck has no basic pillars or towers.

You need to work on your wording and clarification. You make some easy to understand things into a heap of confusion.
The Card text shows the simple of it.

The Notes show the technical calculation to produce the correct response. If you're a mathematition or a coder it's simple.

I like this one. If newbie guy put a Soul pillar in his duo deck he would understand what it could be used for by trying it out. So this passes my Simplicity Test [TM].

Does it stop producing quanta when you draw your last basic pillar from the deck, or are the probabilities predetermined when you play it? I think it should be predetermined, less searching through the deck and a pillar that suddenly stops producing quanta is just weird.

I think it costs too much though, especially the unupgraded version. This really makes trio decks a possibility but not if it costs 3 quanta to play your pillars. I would suggest making them both cost 1 other but the upgraded one produced one upon being played, like a proper tower. Its already limited by you only being able to have 6 of them.

Yeah, it's a nice idea.

I think it is quite situational though. Being only really valuable in a Trio (which is good in a way)

If I was running a trio, Gravity/Earth/Time with Fire as my mark (for Graviton Fire eaters), In the early game, I'm guessing this will pretty much have a 33/33/33% chance to give me either Gravity/Earth/Time. Presuming I have equal numbers of them in my deck. If I have Drawn/Played all of my Time Towers, I'm guessing it will have a 50/50 chance to give me Gravity/Earth presuming I have equal numbers of those towers in my deck. And, likewise, if I have played all my Gravity towers and have only Earth left in my Deck, every turn it will give me an Earth quanta until I have drawn that pillar - then it becomes redundant? See Mafidufa's point above.

It is situational in that it is pretty much useless in a Duo deck. You wouldn't want to put 6 of these (slowing the offence/pace/speed of your deck completely) in a Duo. You would much rather increase the ratio of Pillars to Other cards.

Again, it loses all 'usefulness' in a Mono deck. Since it will pretty much function as a Pillar which takes up an additional Permanent Slot and loses it's ability to produce quanta when you have played all your Pillars.

A minor problem. But, my only problem is that, would a 'newbie guy' bother to buy this pillar or even know about it/where to find it in the Bazaar? The Bazaar is pretty confusing at the best of times and with the sheer amount of cards being suggested daily, it can only get more so.

True. The Bazaar is probably the most confusing screen in-game. But I won't hold that against the card. It has a simple enough effect AND it solves the problem of dual pillars without creating 144 new cards. All the nasty math is hidden and doesn't really need to be known by the player to use the card. Plus I have some trio deck ideas that this could make a reality.

Is this how it works Kael? A small paragraph like this accompanying the more intricate cards might have avoided the first two comments in this thread.

If that is how it works, perhaps once it doesn't find anymore pillars in the deck, it can look for what other pillars are in play and produce quanta in accordance with that ratio. To continue with Lanidrak's example, once all the pillars are out, assuming equal numbers, it will revert to a 33/33/33% chance for Gravity/Earth/Time. If the Gravity pillars were destroyed though, it will only produce Earth/Time.

Yeah, I think Mafidufa's suggestion solves the redundancy problem.

Now just to try and fit that on the card text. :)

Maybe we could use some sort of code, which alters the card text according to the pillars in your deck... For example, a normal pillar reads:

"Each turn :fire is generated"

So, this card idea would read (for my Earth/Time/Gravity example)

"Each turn :time or :gravity or :earth is generated"

It would keep the card text to a minimum, but also convey in the simplest sense what it is that this card does. Maybe if theres space on the card, try to convey that it is the pillars in his deck which it uses to determine what quanta you get. (Maybe on the card example when it is not in game, there can be more text). But, if a player was to play one of these, he will immediately recognize that it gives him quanta that he uses. If he was to play all his Gravity pillars, he will then realize that it gives him quanta from cards in his deck (in a way). Because, the card text (with no Gravity Pillars in the deck) would read: "Each turn :time or :earth is generated"

Destiny: 13 Amethyst Tower + 8 Time Tower = 62% :entropy, 38% :time
Divine Glory: 3 Burning Tower + 13 Light Tower = 19% :fire, 81% :light
Miracle: 4 Emerald Tower + 8 Light Tower + 4 Wind Tower = 25% :life, 50% :light, 25% :air

Instead of running 13 Light Towers and 3 Buring Towers and waiting to get lucky drawing the Burning Tower, you can run 2 Burning Tower, 8 Light Tower and 6 Soul Tower and have a better chance of getting that Fire Quanta that you need.
