Solar Shield, Carapace Shield, and Skull Shield are the same card, and it's dumb.

I think with Jade Shield on the list, Life is fine with Carapace Shield, but both Solar Shield and Skull Shield need a serious upgrade.  Here's my ideas, nice and simple:


Solar Shield - WWWWW - Prevents 1 damage.  All of your creatures gain +0/+2.

Skull Shield - DDDDD - Prevents 1 damage.  All of your creatures gain +1/+0. 


Simple, direct, and to the point.

That's a good idea, but Death and Light both have decent shields as well: Bonewall and Reflector Shield. If you overhaul the the crap shields of those two elements, then why not overhaul the crap shield of Life as well? Perhaps it'll heal a random creature you control by two life at the end of each turn, or heal the owner for two life at the end of each turn, while also preventing the usual one damage.

I think the problem with reflect shields is that direct damage spells are underpowered, for the most part.  In some circumstances they can be good, but usually it is in cases where you already could have won because you have enough quantum for creatures that would have done much more damage when summoned earlier.  A shield that makes you immune to a whole class of spells, (direct damage spells,) should be a really good item.  But, as it stand these items are pretty weak.  Maybe part of the problem is that direct damage spells can target the player or the creature, and for them to be scary enough to the player it makes them overpowered vs creatures.  Perhaps some direct damage spells should only target the player but be somewhat/much stronger in order to make reflect shields and player-damage spells better.  I'm not sure, does poison vs. player get reflected?  That might help if it did.

No, it doesn't. Poison is UNTARGETED - it always affects the opponent. Heal and Miracle don't get refected, either. Ugh, imagine - Reflective Shield, 1HP, and you use miracle. Ouch.

Really, after looking at it, I think that Solar Shield and Carapace Shield should be upgraded (because Jade Shield and Reflective Shield really aren't that great), but Skull Shield is OK (because Bone Wall is awesome).  I realize that it's bad game-balance theory to balance one card based on the power of another card in the same set, but it does feel kind of better. ;p
