I like this but...
When you put this down after people set up their defenses with SoG's and/or Empathic Bonds it will TOTALLY screw them up.

I know this is meant to do that and a counter to SoG's is something the game actually needs but... This would be pretty badass.

Imagine this vs a Miracle, or False Gods like Firequeen and other Empathic bond gods.

Anyway, I like the idea, but I foresee some balance issues.

I agree it's powerful (i hope not OP).

The goal is to play healing permanents or spells with more thinking. But fortunately the threat only exists when your opponents has death quanta.

Another double-edge effect would be if Heal, Stone skin and others could target your opponent. Playing Soiled water would become dangerous against spell-healers.
Actually, a soiled Holy Flash would deal 10 damage!

"Why would you carry 6 Holy Flashes around in a :death deck? . . . Ooooooohhhh..."

Archangel. 'Nuff said.

Back to business, I'd say that this is a decent card. Compare it to Flooding, which is an insta-kill card. It forces the opponent to be wary of what they play. That's the concept behind it.

This is why it's ideal. Darkness has a Fractal counter. Water has a Fractal counter. Now, let's focus on a Miracle counter.
Perception is the source of misunderstanding.

Why, yes. I do have a Mindgate necklace. It's how I ninja everyone.

Thank you.

Now if the effect is unbalanced, I can suggest to simply negate healing (not dealing damage) (?)

This would be better I think. Also completely counters healing decks, but with a less devastating effect.

CURATOR COMMENT
-Add a  :death icon after the card's COST in the table so that it matches the image (it should read '5 :death' for example instead of just '5', unless you're implying that it requires generic quanta to play)
-The art link you provided is broken (it doesn't seem to work... >_>)

the game need something like this.

What if instead of a upkeep. it drained death quanta like the entropic shield. Deaths usually got a bunch of spare quanta. maybe a 5 hp : 1  :death ratio?

ie six shards of gratitude would absorb 6  :death a turn six vampires would do the same

If it were like this it could have a cheap cost and maybe an activated ability that lets you sacrifice it if your quanta situation gets rough

personally i would leave the unupped and if i was feeling crazy for the upped version make it cost like 8 :death and absorbe  :death :death :death a turn make it so that it transfers enemy healing to you.

Artwork is copyrighted to Martin Waugh and cannot be used. Please change the card art; my suggestion would be this (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1276254).

Now, let's focus on a Miracle counter.
Silence already counters Miracle. However, nothing counters SoG and a counter is needed. Are SoD and Stone Skin considered as healing?
