I wouldn't use it.  I mean if you get a nice weapon set up and enough towers to support Silent Forest, by then not only might your opponent have a nice weapon and creatures already set up, but you then start destroying all you played.  Whether its your weapon or towers.

i say life rush anyone? the effect would almost always destroy it but the upkeep could if they just destroyed your pillars, i think you could reduce upped price to 8 or 7, since it the same chance to destroy your permanents as the opponents, just more than the unupped

wow...   what a relief that i'm don't see anyone said it very OP.....     ^-^

next problem is   how can i fix it?   for me it will be very OP if you can kill all your opponent creature and started play this card.  that why i'm add 2 way to destroy itself in this card.

Right now the card is quite under-powered in my opinion, it absorbs 3 life quanta, while also having the expensive playing cost and the chance to actually destroy itself before anything really happens... Also runs the risk of being destroyed by creatures with butterfly effect and pulverizer. I think right now the card is too complicated, it has 3 effects:

1. No one can play any cards
2. Destroys 1-2 permanents(not sure is the upped card destroys your opponents permanents as well)
3. Absorbs 3 life quanta per turn

I would either go with option 1 and 3 or 2 and 3, with 3 effects, it makes the card under-powered and over-complicated. This could work similarly to flooding, I'm not sure what your main focus is, but if you want it to be like a silence-type permanent card then you should increase the upkeep to 4 life quanta per turn. If it was destroy 1-2 random permanents (which is a bit wierd) per turn then the upkeep should be fine if the silence forest doesn't destroy itself :P. Also, the cost right now is a bit too high, again, depending on which 2 effects you want to keep, the cost can vary. If you choose to do Effect 1 and 3, I would to 7 quanta unupped and 5 quanta upped. For 2 and 3, I would do 6 unupped and 4 upped. But then again, those are just my opinions of the card and perhaps if you change the wording a little and tweak the effects a little I guess you could still somehow keep all 3 effects of your card.

only upkeep look not enough for this card.  maybe keep 2 will be better (only 3 life pillar and life mark is enough to make it last forever if don't have 2 effect)

Interesting idea.

May I suggest a rewording of the card text?

Unupped:
"No cards may be played until this card is destroyed. Randomly destroys 1 permanent per turn."

Upped:
"No cards may be played until this card is destroyed. Randomly destroys 2 permanents per turn."


Question: Does it destroy something at the end of the turn it is first played?

If it does, then you might spend 7 :life for no benefit. I guess that is fair, but I am just wondering if it has "summoning sickness" or not.


The silent forest brings me back to my hometown where I often found myself out in the serenity of the woods. I love the picture too. Maybe someone can make a some similar card art that is not a photo.

As for the effect, I think your new version is relatively well balanced. The high cost means that it isn't likely to be put out quickly and if the opponent has few permanents, you probably won't benefit from this card.

This would be lovely against Rainbow the False God. Rainbow has many permanents and destroying his hourglasses while stopping him from drawing would be amazing.

At the same time, this card probably wouldn't be that clutch in PVP. Most people bring only a few permanents besides pillars and there are lots of rainbow supernova rushes running around that can kill you long before you play Silent Forest.


Overall I can see both how this card would be very useful at times and not that useful at others, but I like the idea.

Well, anon, all I have to say is, RTFC (Silence). You have almost never in your time here contributed to any card idea, and all your posts that I have seen have no value on this forum whatsoever.

Back OT: Cards need to work off the basis of how much profit they can generate. Aside from :life rush, I can't see this card generating profit.

I believe a possible solution to the card underpoweredness is to reduce the cost to 5 | 3 (seeing as how it can fail on itself) , and have it generate 2  :life quanta per turn, with a doom clock of 3 turns.  That you won't have any sort of chancy, completle lockdown, but the card still generates profit.   Since most cards the prevent some kind of mass action (I.e. Wings and Phase Shield for attacks, Silence for playing cards) usually only last for a few turns, I think giving this card a doom clock is appropriate as well, with quanta generation to compensate.
