Looking at all of the generic weapons in Other, it occurred to me that there ought to be a generic shield:
Kite Shield (
Upgraded: Tower Shield)
3 Any --
Shield (
Upgraded: 2 Any)
Reduces all physical damage dealt to you by 1 point per source.
And if there's going to be a generic shield, than we need the current generic shields to actually do cool stuff:
Chitin Shield (
Upgrade: Carapace Shield)
4 Life --
ShieldReduces all physical damage to yourself and all damage to your creatures by 1 point per source.
(
Upgrade: The damage to your creatures is reduced by 2 points.)
Puts a bit of the kibosh on Fire Storm and Eagle's Eye, very useful when you're using Toads+Adrenaline.
Obviously wouldn't affect Plague, etc.
Solar Shield (
Upgrade: Solar Buckler)
5 Light --
Shield (
Upgrade: 3 Light)
Reduces all physical damage dealt to you by 1 point per source.
Each time they act, each of your creatures is healed for 1 point of damage.
Pretty straightforward. It won't help much against a human opponent, since they rarely damage creatures without killing them -- but it'll do wonders against the AI, and would negate a single Plague nicely.
Skull Shield (
Upgrade: Skull Armor)
5 Death --
Shield Reduces all physical damage dealt to you by 1 point per source. (
Upgrade: 2 damage per source.)
As long as Skull Shield remains in play, all of your creatures gain +1/+0.
Simple enough. Works doubly well with Aflatoxin now.
There's just no point to having 3 generic shields taking up valuable slots in-element when no one uses them. Make the generic shield GENERIC, and give the existing shields a point. These ideas work well within the elements they're in and create some interesting new deck options.
