ART:

NOTES:
This card is a nod to all those cool force-field effects out of science fiction.
Mechanics notes:
  • When played, this creature creates a field effect that absorbs damage that is directed at adjacent creatures
  • It will not shield itself.
  • The damage that can still be absorbed is displayed on the bottom left of the card like a counter
  • When no more damage can be absorbed the creature dies.
  • If the shield dome dies early, the effect ends.
  • If two shield dome effects overlap, the shield dome played last takes priority.
  • Protection will not stop poison
  • It will only protect from damage, other effects are not blocked (e.g. lobotomize, reverse time, freeze, etc)
  • Protection will prevent freeze-shockwave combo as long as all damage from shockwave gets absorbed
  • The field effect can be shown as a green transparent half dome enclosing surrounding slots... art to follow

Any feedback on cost / balance / mechanics would be appreciated before crucible submission

So the quanta is spent when the card is played?
This thing seemed dead inside. It seemed like an automaton, trying to act like as if it was alive. The effect was unsettling.
Orianna made a sound that supposed to a girl's squeal of glee and hugged The Ball. While it might have been touching, it was unfortunately only horrifying.

yes. Its meant to be a sink for excess quanta. Like fractal or miracle except it just picks whatever type you have most of.

What would happen if you were to place 3 of these next to each other, would the effects stack, making this card unkillable via damage. Add gravity pull to that and you cannot die.

I'd assume it'd be like reflective shields: damage can only be redirected once.

I'd assume it'd be like reflective shields: damage can only be redirected once.
Even with stacking, you would not be invulnerable. The highest priority shield would absorb its damage first, then die. Followed by the next. Then the central shield would be left vulnerable since it won't benefit from its own shielding.
The maximum amount a shield could absorb would be 25 points of damage, and only if you sunk 75 quanta into to casting it.
Getting 3 shields next to each other with that kind of absorption would take over 200 quanta and require either a quartet or rainbow (remember that they absorb all of your quanta of a single type when cast), or else would have to be done in several turns.

This is easily countered with quanta denial, or reverse time. Or you could just stun or freeze the two edge shields and kill the central one while its open. Or better, lobotomize the edges and watch the shields dissappear.
Lastly, you would still be vulnerable to momentum, rev. time, weapons, and spell damage.

Given the difficulty in set up, and vulnerability to CC, I think you're better off with a dissipation shield. Its more cost effective anyway.
