Has anyone else ever wanted to be able to duel enemy creatures with a weapon? Here's your chance Could work well in any number of elements, but I like how it fits into fire and gravity thematically. -Fire: Provides CC, but at a risk to your own survival. Synergies well with other CC / mass CC by weakening targets. -Gravity: Redirection / manipulation of physical attacks The counterattack mechanism essentially gives the the target a free attack against you if it survives your assault. This should be implemented like a standard attack phase for that creature (e.g. factor in shields, poison etc.). Delayed or frozen targets will not get to attack but they will lose 1 point of freeze or delay status as normal... which should give this weapon a number of side synergies aside from its obvious CC potential. Low casting cost should also help promote novel uses in multi element decks. E.g. power with nova / immolation and gravity mark. In the case of a flown weapon or endowed crusader, the weapon / crusader will take the damage from the counter attack. This should help to further distinguish this weapon from owl's eye or similar weapons. SERIES:

I think Runed Sparring Blade is going to be overpowered but luckily it still have 2 different quanta costs to balance it,
but then one could easily use nova to get Runed Sparring Blade easily out for 1  , then by using  1 from their  mark,
player can easily creature control all opponent creatures with one card.

The idea of battling with creatures is thrilling except that Runed Sparring Blade might be slightly overpowered.

Hmm, should the creature get to counter attack regardless of whether or not it survives then? That should add some inherent balance since you would need a good shield or a way of healing.

Creatures countering attack to reduce player hp is not that powerful although it can depends,
the boring way is to increase the quanta costs of Runed Sparring Blade
since i would choose Runed Sparring Blade over Owl's Eye as Runed Sparring Blade is much more quanta efficient.

But you already had stated you made it low casting cost to enable it for decks with variety elements.

For realism purposes I'm thinking that the crusader / flow weapon would take the counterattack.
Which brings up a good point, I need to put the flown HP into its stats box.

I'll go with 2 to make it a harder choice when deciding between this and owl's eye.

I'd say that the upgraded attack needs to be lowered or at least have a cost increase in the ability cost because repeatable 4 damage CC is going to take down most things in two hits at most (likely just one for most strong attackers). Perhaps have the upgraded be 2 and 2 ?
