It's still a creature. It doesn't say it has control or anything. It happens at a set time, not when the ability is activated by choice. The way it works makes it plenty clear, to me anyway.

I think you should change the upgraded card a bit. Because some elite creatures are the same but the cost is less (e.g.-Mummy). Just remove the elite from from it. Make the quanta of unupgraded and upgraded card same. Lower its HP to 1. No need to do anything else.

EDIT: Just saw Fate Egg in the wikia

The two turn version is better if you ask me, it gives you a chance to use the creatures ability.

However, the one turn version is easier to code, because it could just auto-Hatch each turn.

This could be balanced, then again it couldn't. It's hard to tell because new creatures will always come out into the game and it's balance will chance similar to Fate Egg.

Submit for Curator Review for now, as it is it stands a pretty good chance of getting into Crucible.

I think a shape shifted (mutated) creature can immediately use skills. Not clear. A mummy when turned into Pharaoh can immediately cast it's ability at the same turn.

I made a version 3. I think it is better.

This is a great idea! It is a perfect complement to the randomness of entropy's spell cards.  I think the initial HP reduction to 1 was a good move, and balances it out with Fate Egg (the standard) fairly.  Am I understanding correctly that each time it mutates, it is the same “Hatch” effect as a fate egg in standard and upgraded modes? If so I would change the wording of the non-upgraded text to “turn into a random creature at the end of each turn” (remove “weird”).  For the upgraded version make it  “random mutant”.  This would be keeping to the current wording of the effect as seen in the druid/elf, fate eggs. Or were you going for some different type of weirdness not seen in the current mutations?

Clearly the benefit of this creature is that you can get a uber-mutant-hitter with only one card and element type. On the other hand, the shifter cannot take advantage of growth/ablaze, one of the best outcomes you can hope for with mutate,  and it cannot be buffed either. Is this a far trade off? Maybe. If you have a spare TU ready, you could copy the stronger mutations…

As an alternate idea:  What if the  shapeshifter cost more to play initially, but all off it’s skills were  :entropy :entropy cost?

fix discrepancies between teh card text in the card image and table..

--

So "shape shifter" would be a passive skill along with the "mutant" skill (it's a mutant, it must have the mutant passive)? (It must be passive or "shape shifter" would become replaced by the mutant skill.) Is the shift ability used on the turn you play it? Anyways, since mutation replaces the original creature's passives, this needs to apply "shape shifter" after it's mutated...does anyone know if there are any problems with this?

Also, a simpler way to code the entropy cost would be to make it only mutate into entropy base creatures so that its abilities always have entropy costs.

In addition, I believe that the upped version should have some kind of perk that the unupped doesn't have. Since its real stats are never used, you probably have to change the cost. So 5 | 4 or 4 | 3 instead of the current 4 | 4.
Or, you could take this on a new spin and make the creature mutate every OTHER turn, making it more vulnerable. (you can also decrease the cost of both upgraded and unupgraded versions because it's so vulnerable) and then give the upped verson some base stat perks (like make the unupped version 1|1 and the upped version 2|2 or unupped, 0|2 and upped, 0|4)

CURATOR COMMENT
-Fix all the discrepancies between the TEXT in the table and the card image (the TEXT needs to match the image word for word, letter for letter, etc.)
Instead of:

"Shape Shift :
At the end of each turn
transforms into a random
creature.  Abilities cost  :entropy instead."

...it should reflect the image, thus becoming:

"Shape Shift:
Transforms into a random
creature each turn, abilities
cost :entropy quanta instead."

That passive seems like a pain to deal with, UNLESS you rewind the mutant/creature back into the deck to reap the full benefits of it in question, assuming you have the quanta to play that creature. Otherwise, very fun card idea indeed. ^^;
