I was advised in chat by a few people that Grav didn't need another quanta control card really, so I changed the theme to fit Life since I thought it would work equally there.  The Power Sink and this card are otherwise quite similar

Like I said in power sink, this is too expensive to work. Unupped skill costing 2 , and being an activated ability, you won't be able to perform the quanta drain effectively. Maybe make the skill cost 1 for both? You could also include stuff like healing to make it better than Devourer.

You forget the posibility with rustlers;
especially upped, via RoL+epi, I see potential to lock the opponent with a single card.
note that you'll only be vulnerable for 1 turn;
draining all quanta is a very effective way to protect your creatures and permanents.

That's a 4 card combo, and a really specific case. Yeah, it prolly works, but it's still not much use unupped. At least decreasing unupped skill cost ( and increasing summoning cost) would be better. And maybe healing?

Light pillars are much more consistent: it works just as well unupped. It'd only have the CC weakness Rustler rushes have, and it can still do Mito+Dragon and even SoG's or Bonds+Staff. Also keep in mind Emerald Dragon is 10/6, the strongest vanilla attacker that can survive a Lightning.

So, as mentioned in chat, this is too strong if you can use it infinitely per turn. Especially the upped one costing half a light quanta to absorb one quanta. Reduce casting cost for upped instead of activation cost, then limit its uses per turn.

if the ability is limited to once  a turn, it needs another benefit;
otherwise devs are almost always better.

I like the card  a lot.
Upped it should cost less or have a cheaper ability cost, but not both.
