Title: Possible new psuedo element - Not yet named.
Post by: Anarook on May 09, 2011, 03:59:43 am
I was thinking of a rather different kind of psuedo element.
It sorta of pulls from many ideas that ahve already been posted about.
Anyways.

The deck is based as such, you do not use normal quanta, instead, cards are played using pillars.
The psuedo element has its own type of pillar.

It doesn't use conventional means of playing cards, instead, a card can only be played if you have a number of pillars equal to or greater than the card cost.

For example: I have a spell that costs 5, a creature that costs 3, and a permanent that costs 6.
I have 5 psuedo pillars.
So, I can play the spell or the creature, but not the permanent.

Continuing
Every time a card is played, one psuedo pillar is destroyed.
This is to counter the possibility of being able to play your entire hand with no drawbacks.
This also opens possibility for cards that generate pillars.
It also provides opportunity for power cards that sacrifice more than one pillar.

Strongly think the pillars should be immaterial.

Some example cards.

Psuedo Pillar
Cost 0|0
Immaterial.
(UP)Plays two psuedo pillars at the same time.

Psuedo Pendulum
Cost 1|0
Alternates between being useable as a pillar and producing a new pillar.

Psuedo Steal
Cost 1|0
Steal an opponents pillar and turn it into a psuedo pillar.

Psuedo Beast
Cost 3|2
Attr: 7|2/8|2

Psuedo Worker
Cost 2|1
Attr: 2|2/2|5
Each turn generates a psuedo pillar.

Psuedo Blade
Cost 4|3
Weapon: Deals 6 damage at the end of each turn. Produces a new psuedo pillar each time it deals damage.

etc etc.

Thoughts?
Ideas?
Help me name it please.

AND suggest new possibilities.

Please stop.
Currently the Curator and I  are trying to determine what to do with these series. Our current idea is to restrict it to the Idea Factory.

thanks. Some of your idea is already being considered for the 2nd Idea Factory element.
Depending on what other projects we do in the meantime, it is possible for you to quality for the Idea Factory by then. (unlikely but possible.)

How about a sub section in Design Theory available to everyone called Idea Workshop it would be like a satellite section of the Factory.

Probably not a subsection and probably not for pseudo-elements.
Although I would like it if you maintained the presmithy thread.

Where should people put these Pseudo Element threads?
Here. (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,24822.0.html)
I created that thread with the intention of giving people a place to suggest Pseudo-elements.

Where should people put these Pseudo Element threads?
Wherever they currently are. Ideas still in heads should stay there until they qualify for the Idea Factory.
Ideas in the smithy should be retired to the smithy.
