Cards with field and area effects now affect 35 random spots on the field.
ART:
IDEA:
Darkrobe
NOTES:
I keep seeing cards that try to move creatures so that they can be affected by certain things like flooding, or traps, etc. but im not sure if ive ever seen a card that randomizes area effects. so that all cards have a chance to not be affected by these effects.

This card alters the areas affected by the following cards (others are up for debate):
Thunderstorm
Unstable Gas
Nightfall
Plague (including that caused by retrovirus)
Pandemonium
Rain of Fire
Sundial
Flooding
SoP

For example: when you or your opponent casts rain of fire. instead of it affecting your line of creatures. it will check 35 random spots on the field (you or your opponents spots) and if there is a creature on one of those spots it will get hit by the rain of fire. basically turning it into a strange kind of pandemonium.

The idea is that the card would give entropy a random defense against opponent mass spells and buffs. as well as lead to interesting new combos such as entropy/flooding.

Let me know if you think their are other cards that should fall under this card's effect.

With respect to flooding, will this cause static assignement of flooded areas or will they shift each turn. If the latter, this could make a very interesting combo. I like it.

the latter would be far, far too powerful. the combination of the two alone is really bad.

Its the latter. everything shifts each turn. and not really. because it effects both sides. your SoP would give the opponent a chance to get a boost. and there is no guarantee your creatures will be under water or recieve SOP benefits.

If we are afraid of the balance i can always reduce the number of squares affected. 35 squares leaves 11 squares empty, split between both sides. i can always reduce the number to something like 30.

yeah, if this shifts every turn and you have this in a water deck with flooding, play flooding to kill all exterior creatures, and then plop this down to kill the remaining creatures over the next 2 or 3 turns, considering 35 (or even 30) out of the 46 creature slots is still a good likelihood that the creatures you didnt kill off initially will be hit.

I think the best way to answer that would be to give multi-turn effects and single use effects a different chance. For example, each space might have a 50% chance to be effected by plague. while something like nightfall or flooding would have a reduced effect on each square of maybe 20% per turn. so that over 3 turns any 1 particular square has about a 50% chance to get away unscathed. that would mean a change in wording in terms of the card. would that answer your concerns?

This would DEFINATELY make flooding too op- it would pretty much kill of all the opponents creatures in one turn if they aren't water type, and the shifting nature means that the ones who survive will almost certainly be killed next turn. If you make a water deck with this card in it you would be almost unbeatable. The only reason flooding isn't op already is because it leaves those 5/6 'safe spots', and this card removes that.
