Which would be better a forced upkeep (Absorb)
or the choice upkeep (Remain)

Absorption definetly since as OT pointed out, it is quite a strong effect.
However, By putting an absorbing effect, I may have to greatly increase its hp, otherwise its just not worth the waste of quanta due to the many CC effects in the game.

Seriously needs an upkeep. Making this lobotomizable would be good. Another thing you could do is make it an active, triggered ability (no upkeep then).
But yes, there are many combos that would work well.... This + Mitosis => enormous army, slowly. This + Fire/Ice bolts /drain life . This + firefly queen + Otyugh...(+ Boneyard)... etc etc.

That is a good suggestion too, so then it actually needs to survive for one turn before using it, making it even more of a possible victim of CC.
