NAME:
Nightmare Mastiff
ELEMENT:
Death
COST:
6
TYPE:
Creature
ATK|HP:
3 | 6
TEXT:
: Cannibalism - Attacks a random creature instead of opponent this turn. If victim is smaller, it is devoured instead.
ART:
OdinVanguard, created using Hexagon, Bryce7, and GIMP
IDEA:
OdinVanguard
NOTES:
"Today the old must give way to the new"
"The maw of death is particularly voractious today, be sure to stay out of its way."
Fits well in the death element as a source of death effects (albeit in a somewhat unpredictable manner).
Thematically, death is often described as a voracious and undiscriminating, both of which are exemplified by this card.
The gravity activation cost is to help draw the connection to 'Otyugh' which is another creature that eats others to grow stronger.
Like otyugh, when this creature will also gain +1|+1 when it devours a smaller creature.
The devour mechanic is calculated before attack damage is dealt, so it is possible that this creature could kill a larger victim instead of devouring it (this could happen if the hound is wounded or if a buff boosts its ATK to be larger than its HPS)
This card should be distinct from the Otyugh since it can whittle down enemies even if it cannot swallow them whole. It is also unpredictable in how it does so, however, so that should keep it from overshadowing otyughs.

... Auto-cannibalism... rofl... I don't know. Probably not a good idea unless this thing is too powerful and needs a nerf.

Because it could end up eating other hounds... or anything else... I guess I can rename it, but it just sounds more gruesome and death like this way.

So, is Aflatoxin and this card a synergy?

It would certainly help to provide food for this creature's ability.. or help whittle down a tough enemy to make it easier to eat.
The former would be the best synergy if you wanted to help inflate this creature 'safely' since you could flood the field with easy targets to help keep nicer creatures you own from being targeted as often.
