if we are talking about a giant sun, lets say, a star 100 times bigger than our sun, then its impossible to become a dwarf star
(take in consideration that our sun is not that big, its actually quite small when compared to a vast amount of stars)
when a star that big "dies", it explodes in what we call a supernova, and then it has 2 choices:
its previous center becomes a neutron star, very condessed and small and with a faint light OR, if the sun has enough mass, the center will colapse on itself due to extreme gravitacional force, creating a black hole
