The creature must already be able to inflict a status effect (poison, freeze, delay) or this will do nothing. does this only affect creatures like squids and wardens? or can it be used with a scorpion?
does web count as one?

It would affect scorpions (and puffer fish, toadfish, parasites, and viruses) too (since poison is itself a status effect).
I don't think web would count. It removes flying but I don't think it actually applies a status effect (I don't think there is a "webbed" status), just removes a trait.

...I think you could also justify having it affect voodoo dolls, depending on how you interpret the ability, since they apply statuses inflicted upon them onto the opponent... that could make for a very interesting combo actually.
