Life is an element that doesn't require too many pillars, and arguably earth, too.

I'd argue it's much weaker, upped, and thus should keep the same cost.

Yes.
And there's enough coloured weapons to create two more sets.

Hmmm... Why is it much weaker upped?
It gains double the amount of damage per pillar played and only requires 1 pillar to be played per activation instead of 2.

I have no problem dropping the cost on the upgraded version (I intentionally went a little high to start out) I'm just curious about the reasoning on why its weaker.

Hmm... I can see the meta analysis on that but in terms of total power, the upped version is basically twice as powerful as the unupgraded version... Are you asserting that the expected number of pillars (towers) used on average is less than one half that of unupped? ... Granted there will be a difference, but will it really be that extreme?

Remember that, you too, are playing less pillars, upped. Especially life - Life rushes can get away with 8 pillars.

Yes, but in order for the expected number of pillars to drop to half, BOTH players have to use HALF as many... I think the average number of pillars in unupped decks is about 12 to 14. So at 8 pillars thats only a drop of about 33%, not 50%... That means the contribution to the expected value drop from the rise of non-pillar strats has to be about 20%... I'm not a pvpII expert though, so maybe thats not unreasonable...

Hmm... Does 4 seem reasonable... it just seems like an aweful big power boost for an upgrade otherwise, meta difference notwithstanding.
